Tracking Not Updating From USPS To eBay Tracking
Hi Folks....
I combined and shipped 2 orders on Monday, October 20th. One order was Priority mail. The other USPS Ground Advantage. I combined them to Ground Advantage (OK with customer). I have a scan receipt from the post office. Tracking is updating on the USPS site. Nothing is updating on eBay, just showing tracking number provided. Does anyone have some insight on this issue? Thanks in advance.

All missing tracking data on eBay has been updated.
Dings from the issue have been removed.

OP10 months agoSo here's my update:
The tracking finally updated itself to eBay on Saturday..No defects showing.
I woke up Sunday morning to 2 defects for shipping.
Took a while, but I was finally able to speak with another rep....
So now they have sent it for review to have the defects removed.
I guess when the first rep said they would check the USPS tracking BEFORE giving a defect did not happen.
I should have an email with a decision in 3-5 days.
I don't know what there is to decide....it's obvious when it was scanned and shipped.

I still have the strikes in my Seller Performance but I'm sure that will be the next phase of fixing.

·10 months agoHere is the answer I received from the eBay rep on Facebook. I will see if the dings get removed in 3-5 days.

My rep said they would check USPS tracking before giving me a defect.
As of right now I still have 100% tracking showing.

·10 months agoBasically, the defects we get are staying because it would be too complicated to remove each one from all of us piecemeal.
If and when there is a case open or we are brought to over 5% not validated on time, they will handle it on a case by case bases.
As for the punitive diminished visibility, eBay is sorry but we are gonna have to deal with it. Part of the e-commerce experience.

·10 months agoWhere are you getting this information? Sounds like speculation. And it doesn't align with historical observation, like when eBay has programmed automated defect removals for packages delivered late due to extreme weather.

·10 months agoYep, the defects are now showing up. I had 100%, and I am now just barely holding on to TRS due to 1 order of six items shipped on the 20th, which is not updating on eBay. The USPS website indicates the package is expected to be delivered tomorrow.

I'm not seeing any defects and still tracking is not updating.
The items were delivered yesterday (23rd).
So hopefully they did what they said they would and looked at the USPS scans before giving me defects.

·10 months agoThanks @dlb9 In another thread on this topic, @elizabeth@ebay recommended contacting eBay via Facebook to have the dings removed. I initiated a chat on Facebook with an eBay rep and am now waiting for a reply.

Went back & forth & then asked for a representative.
The rep called me with in 3 minutes.

·10 months agoSame thing happened to me and a lot of other people. The common issue is USPS shipping labels printed from ebay on October 20th. When I printed my label I noticed a red warning message near the top of the page - something about the Amazon Web Services crash causing some classes of labels not being able to be purchased. It let me print a USPS Priority label, but I think it's more than a coincidence that the Amazon Web Services crash was on October 20th, the same day many of us are having issues with getting tracking updates for labels printed that day. I asked google about this and here's the response: "There has been instances where eBay's own services have been disrupted by AWS outages, indicating a dependence on AWS for certain specific functions." It was reported that the AWS crash effected up to a third of domestic internet traffic.

·10 months agoAre you bleepin serious? I can't even fathom how that could happen, all I know is there's one more reason to recognize Amazon is an over-bloated monster too big for its britches. Ya hear that Jeff? Yer sh's spilling over onto our sh. Order yourself a bottle of Pepto Bismol to be delivered in a microwave-sized stupid smiley box, and DRINK IT.

·10 months agoNone of the USPS tracking is showing up on eBay. All the shipment history shows “tracking number provided†but has no updates on status. When you go over to the usps website it shows those same items as being tracked. As far as I know, it seems to be USPS packages. Aside from this, the iOS app has been very glitchy and uncomfortable to use.

·10 months agoHaving the same issue of tracking not updating on one item not combined with any other order. I used ebay label and it was ground advantage. USPS site says out for delivery but, eBay shows tracking number provided and no USPS updates.

And if we in the Community who watch things closely are noticing, there are bound to be thousands of other sellers who shipped on Monday who'll be making this discovery in coming days.

·10 months agoI have a 4 day lead time for all my shipments. I had until yesterday, 10/23, but shipped the item I am having a problem with early on 10/20. I expected to see a defect for late shipment with no carrier scans today, 10/24, but my performance dashboard is showing 0 defects. However, I just read that it can take up to 72 hours after the lead time expires before a defect appears. This is such a PIA, I've already contacted ebay chat support twice, taking about 20 minutes just to get the right 'team' member online, then having to go through the entire scenario with them while they pretend to have never heard of this Oct 20th tracking problem. What really makes a seller mad is when they pretend that my case is an isolated one that no one else is having. They refuse to acknowledge all these other reports even when I reference all these reports on the Community Forums. Ebay just refuses to take any responsibility for these problems. The first ebay support rep I chatted with blamed USPS. I pity the sellers that just don't pay attention to the tracking on their shipments. Now, it looks like I will have to go through the entire process again to get defects removed. Fortunately, I have the 2 chat transcripts where ebay support told me I would not get a defect for this.

Please review this thread. Some sellers (including myself) are reporting that the eBay tracking history is not updating; however, the tracking history IS updating on the USPS site.

Click on the tracking number to be taken to the carrier's website. Look for the link to enter your email address to be sent updated tracking information. That should lead the carrier to updating the tracking information to ebay.

·10 months agoThat's because the two functions are completely unrelated. Signing up for email updates on USPS means you get email updates from USPS to you; it does not impact what's fed through the USPS-PitneyBowes-eBay API.

·10 months ago@wastingtime101 Unrelated or not, this "fix" has been tested by several sellers and mentors and has resulted in ebay being updated shortly after applying. Maybe just a coincidence , but at this point anything is worth a try.

·10 months agoI'm having the same issue for a USPS Priority Mail item. Label bought and printed on 10/20/25 direct from my seller hub on ebay, tracking number auto uploaded to the order details. USPS tracking shows 4 location updates as of today (10/22) but nothing on ebay. Ebay rep told me to mark item as not shipped then enter the same tracking number manually. This didn't do anything to get updates over to ebay and made me look worse to my customer. Now it shows I didn't provide a tracking number until 10/22 when I actually did it on 10/20. What are we sellers paying fees for? Bad customer service advice? Now a defect for not complying with lead times?

OP10 months agoI almost did the same thing on my own....But decided to call eBay instead.
She said they would look at the USPS tracking before issuing a defect against me.
So this will hopefully just work itself out in time.
I would maybe call eBay again & tell them what happened...so it's documented.
I got a call # for a reference in the future.

·10 months agoOn Monday, I had 6 packages picked up. No scans were showing even on the consumer side of USPS
I went in to the PO at 4 pm.
They said AWS service impacted the uploading of tracking, but my items were scanned and I saw an internal scan on their hand held.
All my packages eventually showed the tracking on eBay and Etsy, and my tracking showed up on the USPS consumer site.
I believe this is a USPS issue, not a eBay issue, although eBay needs to know about.
I wonder, if your items that are missing tracking have had a 2nd scan in the system yet? I wonder if that's what triggers the data to populate on eBay?

·10 months agoUnfortunately I don't have any helpful insight but I've had similar results in the last several days. I shipped an item to a buyer on 10/20/25 by USPS and provided the tracking number on the order to ebay. The package was scanned and picked up by USPS on the same day but there have been no updates on eBay's tracking to reflect that. On the USPS site it shows all the relevant updates on the tracking. I also purchased an item on 10/17/25 and eBay's tracking shows no updates after the tracking number was provided by the seller. On the USPS site it shows all the updates and that it will be delivered tomorrow. Now I am happy that at least the USPS site is keeping an accurate record of the delivery status of the items but I am concerned that because eBay's tracking does not show that I have actually mailed the package to my buyer that I will be penalized for not shipping in a timely manner.

I was wondering if it had anything to do with me downgrading the shipping on the one order when I combined them...but it seems others are having the same issue. Hopefully it will correct itself.

The only order I shipped yesterday (October 20th) was USPS Ground Advantage, and I am seeing the same thing you describe. I am going to keep an eye on the movement of this package via the USPS website. Hopefully, this is only a reporting lag time issue. I don't know if the AWS outage has anything to do with it, but it is something to consider.

You erred (even if the buyer was okay with it) by downgrading the priority item to ground advantage.
You aren't allowed to downgrade shipping. You could have UPgraded the GA package to priority but you were wrong to ship an item advertised as priority mail by GA.
