To all buyers......are you fed up with Ebays delivery system? Speak up and be heard!
Tired of expected delivery dates never being met. Extended delivery dates for a simple shipment that takes 2 weeks. Shipping fees that are outrageous and are obviously for profit. SPEAK UP!!!!

·4 months agoWho takes possession of the shipment? They establish the rates for carriage. Those rates have to be paid, regardless of carrier. Don't like the cost, don't purchase or sell. ebay is only involved with one process - its international shipping. And even then, it is in the hands first of the seller understanding international law for legal goods & knowledge of proper packaging.

·4 months agoIf eBay had deliveries like Amazon, imagine what type of vehicles they would be using. I picture beat up vintage pickups on their last leg backfiring like crazy with all the packages strapped down with twine in the back. I bet if the delivery person makes it to your house he would ask "What's your best offer on this must have extravagant truck that fits in any lawns decor".

·4 months agoEbay isn't the carrier so your rant is pointless. Shipping fees are also brought by the carrier not Ebay. Carriers like the USPS are actually losing money annually. So there really isn't profit being made by the carriers. Expect prices to go up even more than what you are paying now. Here is how you speak up. See that "Submit Listing" button. Don't click on it. If you don't agree to terms then do not sell on Ebay.

OP4 months agoNo fooling Ebay is not the carrier! I never said they were, what i am trying to do is get Ebay to recognize the problem and get a carrier to do a good job. Kindly explain if the shipping fees are set by the carrier, then why do seller listings that have the exact same item for sale and one seller has $1 for shipping and the other has $5.50 for shipping coming from the same location? Explain why an item that has an estimated 2-4 day delivery (set by carrier) and takes 9 days to reach destination? Also, I am not a seller so your comments at the end make no sense. Since you offer free delivery and returns on your items you get no complaints, which unfortunately the sellers who do charge shipping get hell for poor shipping which as you mentioned is not the sellers' fault.

·4 months agoThere is NO WAY they could 'make a carrier do a good job'.
I ship 1500 a year using USPS exclusively. 1490 without a glitch. 10 with. WAY below 1%.
Explanation of fee variance?? Fees are set by the SELLER and NOT ebay.
2-4 Day delivery- with WHAT handling time? What matters is 'estimated delivery dates'...and remember, what ESTIMATED means.
Bottom line, if you are so concerned about time, best to go to the store and not rely on items being shipped.

OP4 months agoYes, I agree with you about the possibility of making a relevant change in delivery matters, but you never know unless you try. I would love to go back to the times when i can walk into a store, look at and examine a product, then purchase it or return it without waiting 5 days or longer. Those days are gone and doubt will come back. As far as shipping costs go, i am being told by others that they were set by the courier but as you say and i thought the seller sets those and can take advantage to boost profit. Yes, i know what 'estimated' means, but do the couriers? 2-4 days estimated into 9 days especially when going and coming from neighboring states or even same state.

·4 months agoYou STILL can walk into a store a buy just about anything under the sun. I live in the boonies and can still visit a coin shop, skate shop, smoke shop, antique and thrift stores galore, Home Depot, Ross, Walmart, CVS all within a 20 minute drive.
You might wait 5 days for a refund, but you also get to shop in the privacy of your home without going anywhere while sitting in your dining room on the laptop in your underwear at 3 in the morning when stores are closed, while spending NO money on gas.
It's a trade-off- and the current society trends have PROVEN that the latter is the choice of most.

???...........I walk into stores and purchase things often. Perhaps those days are gone for you but not for most people.
If you are somehow confined and not able to go to stores I apologize if my reply sounds harsh but those days are not gone for most people. I see paralyzed people shopping in stores albeit sometimes with a caregiver often. I guess those in prison can't.......................

·4 months agoThose days are not gone, you can still go to a store and buy the items and not have to wait.
Some sellers do set their shipping charges, but not knowing where the buyer is located, they could losing money on the shipping part.

Take it up with the Carriers ie. USPS, UPS, Fedex, DHL etc.

·4 months agoI agree! Along with this, I would also like to add that shipping standards for as far as when it comes to a seller having to ship an item. It needs to be updated. Now I don't put all the blame on eBay and the seller for this, but I do weigh a good portion to it. I purchased an accounting program from a seller to utilize to get all my small business accounting caught up by the April 15th deadline and I still have not received. I ordered on April 1 and did not see any response for the shipping information for dayyyyysss. Then all of sudden last week the seller messaged me back after I sent a couple different messages requesting when the item was going to ship. The seller stated sorry, didn't see, I will get sent out immediately. Well I waited again, and finally after a couple of days, it showed it was shipped, now shipping shows it will not be delivered until April 23rd. to me that is ridiculous. I know as a seller I always send my items within a 24 hour period from date of sale. eBay should have some trigger in place that if you don't ship within a 36 hour window, there is a penalty associated with that. eBay has no problem charging us sellers and even buyers for everything else.

Evidently that date was OK with you, or you would not have made the purchase, right?
If that date has passed by at least one day, you can open an item not received case with eBay.
So, please return to that listing in your Purchase History. What was the EDD there?
PS: eBay has no "delivery system" of its own. Every single purchased item is shipped via UPS, USPS, FedEx, etc.

Personally I don't know where the disconnect is with people who think all sellers on eBay are professional and/or reliable. It's flawed by nature...it's just average people mostly with a side hustle trying to make a dollar or two. Years ago I had a conversation with a person who liked to buy most items on line, they said "when they purchase on line, they expect it to be perfect". I thought, wow...they are in for a lot of disappointment.

Ebay has a "handling time" that sellers can choose, and if a buyer were to click the 'see more' on the shipping, they would see what that handling time is.
Many live 25+ miles from a Carrier and go once a week.
Many (like me) build to order.
As long as the handling time is shown, a buyer can see it- as well as it 'usually' is taken into account in the 'Estimated Delivery' dates.

This evidently looked satisfactory for your purposes, or else you wouldn't have bought, right?
Once that date has passed by just one day, and there's no tracking showing movement, the buyer can open an item not received case.
Also, as others have mentioned, not all eBay sellers are running a business. Some of us are just trying to make a little extra money with a side hustle, or selling off years of accumulated stuff. Often we have families, full time jobs, health issues or emergencies that come up.
Have to ask: Have you read eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers?

·4 months agoSellers can go purchase their own postage directly and don't need to use eBay's label service. Nothing wrong with seeing if that works better for you. Just remember to return to the item and upload the tracking

·4 months agoShipping fees are not charged by ebay. Shipping fees are charged by the CARRIER.
I might buy the argument that UPS and Fedex are greedy, but USPS is a public service and is literally not allowed to make a profit.
The reason shipping costs so much? TURN ON THE GOSH DARN NEWS FOR TWO MINUTES.

If you are having "expected delivery issues" - either you are buying from foreign sellers or you expect more than has been estimated by the carrier.
Shipping fees are outrageous - people who never ship have no clue what everything costs.
Sellers set the shipping carrier and what they charge.
Some sellers take a loss on shipping and some use "free shipping" - which is a gimmick and doesnt really exist.
eBay doesnt "set" shipping fees either.
The loudest complaints tend to come from the uninformed or people who think they know whats going on.
