I ship tires intermittently. I will ship out a set (2) of tires. When I purchase labels through eBay I purchase one label for each tire. So if one tire has a certain dimensions and then weighs 26 lb I pay for the shipping label for this one tire. The tires will be delivered and then a week later I will get an update on shipping labels. FedEx ground has said for each tire that the billable weight was wrong. For each tire they will add an additional 26 lb and basically double the original shipping charges. Does anyone know of a way to avoid this shipping increase? I have to go in later on and dispute the shipping charges which they always decide in my favor but that's still extra work.

·5 months agoI suggest you NEVER use FedEx. There are more complaints about them doing this kind of thing than all other carriers combined. In my full time business we only use FedEx Ground when shipping collect on the recipients account number. And don't ask for a pickup. They will charge you through the nose. And if you see a truck on the street be aware they will not accept your package, unlike FedEx Express and UPS. Drop off at Walgreen's.
