TIRED OF BEING DOUBLE BILLED for shipping.
WTaF.
I use Fedex to "calculate" shipping for my product.
I put in ACCURATE (even generous) size and weight, ADDING a couple pounds, Adding an extra inch in dimensions.
BUYER pays shipping!!!!
It gets delivered. All done?
NOOOOO
Then EBAY says "Some of yoru shipping labels have adjustments"
And it's always MORE. This last time - $35.72 MORE.
That _I_ have to pay, out of my pocket.
What is the point of having a shipping calculator if it's
A) not working right to calculate shipping cost.
B) going to bill ME for something the BUYER should be paying.
This has happened MULTIPLE times.
It really feels like - Ebay gets the discount, it ships, and then Ebay wants MORE cash so they just "adjust" it into their account.
They steal it form me and there's not a friggin thing I can do about it.
Yes. I'm **bleep**. More than $150 out of my pocket **bleep**.
I complained to Ebay and "they'll look into it.: refer me to the "Learn more about preventing label cost adjustments" page.
Reach out to FedEx and they're like, what's the account number it was billed under? Uh, Ebay's?
Oh, we can't help you then. Contact Ebay.

FedEx wants you to put in the dimensional weight, not the traditional information places like USPS uses.

·1 year agoThat's a myth @toysaver . As long as the seller enters accurate dimensions, eBay's shipping calc will automatically factor in dimensional weight. There is no need for the seller to do it manually.

·1 year agoEbay does not pocket all of this money for your shipping. The label and charges are from the carrier, Fedex or whoever else.
Knowing of all these surcharges are common with fedex (and on all of the other sites where you may use them) I just choose not to use Fedex. I don't like surprises either.

·1 year agoShip items in person from FedEx or wherever to see what might be wrong in your calculations.
I have no problem walking to USPS, FedEx or UPS for shipping quotes or to use them.
Getting a quote is free.

·1 year agoGenerally that makes sense IF the clerk behind the counter knows what they are doing.
Just above I pointed out that UPS charges extra for the typical padded envelopes that the USPS accepts as is.
I had a 14 x 10 rather puffy padded envelope and asked the clerk - You take these right?. He said Yep - and never warned me there would be an extra charge.

·1 year agoThere are many surcharges with UPS and FedEx for non-standard packaging so you need to know what qualifies and check the "irregular package" box before buying your label. Learn more here.
In order to help you determine if your charge was legit or in error (and how to appeal), view the label details and expand the section on the bottom right that says see cost breakdown (highlighted below in green). Black out order #, tracking #, and buyer ID and post a screenshot.
Please also provide a physical description of the package (box, bag, tube, box with handle, etc).

REALLY GOOD JOB - WELL DONE!!!
Pirateship also added it to their website. Learned that UPS now charges extra for the padded envelopes that the USPS takes in as normal mail. And I never saw the expression “cardboard sandwich†before.
PAY ATTENTION SELLERS - YOU HAVE GOT TO KEEP UP !!!!
But we see these complaints practically every day. Your suggestion that the seller click the "see cost adjustment" is invaluable. I’m betting most don't even know about it.
They just come on here and rant when the information is readily available.
It would probably be helpful if eBay INCLUDED a bluntly worded “Here’s what to do to avoid this in the future†informational block of text with each notice.

·1 year agoHey @richard1rst . When notifying sellers of label cost adjustments, eBay includes a link to ... I can't remember ... but I think it's this page which has info about avoiding cost adustments:

eBay puts the info out there, but they can't force sellers to read it.

·1 year agoJust to add some clarity - it depends on the dimensions and it's been in the UPS and FedEx service guides for many years.
It's not all polybags and bubble mailers that see nonstandard surcharges with UPS/FedEx, it's only if you exceed certain dimensions. You only have to exceed one of the dims (L or W or H) for the surcharge to apply. Click the link in my sig below where I break that down for ya. 🙂
