Starting to List golf clubs, but unsure what shipping policy to use with USPS Priority Mail Tube
I am listing golf clubs now. I watched Youtube videos about how to box the clubs. I have 1098 boxes from USPS like the videos instruct you to use. I am confused about what shipping policy I have to use with these 1098 Priority Mail Tubes. If I choose Priority Mail as shipping policy the shipping charge is way too expensive. Can I use Ground Advantage if I am using a Priority Mail Tube? I can't find any videos discussing this. Can someone please help me navigate this problem? Thank you.

·2 years agoYou must use only Priority Mail to ship using USPS Priority Mail Tubes.
You must measure the tubes and will probably be responsible for shipping based on dimensional weight.
You will need to weigh the costs of buying boxes against the cost of priority mail.
Ground Advantage is not always cheaper than Priority Mail, so that is also to be considered.
UPS or FEDEX could be cheapest to some destinations.
Those YouTube Videos may have preceded the change package length pricing that USPS made last year.
IMO you cannot ever trust any YouTube video not to be out of date when the subject relates to ecommerce.

·2 years agoThe Priority mail triangular "tubes" do not incur a "dimensional weight" because their volume is not over 1 cubic foot. But there is a $4 surcharge for packages with a length over 22 inches, and for over 30 inches the surcharge is $8.40 for Ground Advantage and $18 for Priority.
I agree with your comments regarding (1) Priority packaging can only be used for Priority Mail; and (2) YouTube videos are often outdated and sometimes they weren't correct in the first place. For instance, the surcharge for packages over 30 inches changed on January 21, and didn't even exist 3 years ago.

·2 years agoI keep seeing that and I have NEVER found it to be true. I ship with Pirateship. One of their admirable quirks is that when you enter size and weight it lists the options in order by PRICE with the cheapest first. In all the time that GA has been available I have NEVER had a case where PM was cheaper than GA. NEVER !
Show me a specific example. zone #, size and weight.

·2 years agoI can't say for pirateship, but when printing USPS labels through ebay lately, I've seen it several times. It usually occurs with items are around 2 lbs going to nearby zones. GA was $8ish and when I scrolled down to check PM, they were $7ish. I'm too lazy to go back and find the zips/details, but I can assure you it happens.

·2 years agoIn the absence of a (rebuttable) example then I would ask WHY are you using a vendor who routinely charges more than another vendor.
But let’s take what you said and work from there. A “nearby zone†ZIP, at 2 pounds. I used Zones 1 and 2 at 2 pounds and a package size of 10x10x10 to avoid any confusion of “cubic rates†to make the comparison as straight up as possible.
Notice also that Pirateship includes UPS Ground Saver which is sometimes even cheaper than GA. It should be noted that Ground Saver is an entirely different service than “regular†UPS ground AND it is NOT quoted by eBay.
The problem is not in the rates - the problem is in your choice of vendor.

·2 years agoAbsolutely NOT! Priority boxes are Free BECAUSE you are SHIPPING Priority. Buyers will either be 'charged more' to 'get' their item (which would make them EXTREMLY upset with you) or USPS will 'return' it back to you for 'proper labeling' (and you LOSE $ paid for the WRONG shipping label)
Buy some boxes- right here on ebay- many sellers sell all types. Then use 'Ground Advantage'. Don't put ANYTHING in ANY Policy.
List each item with proper size/weight and on that listing- choose Ground Advantage (because later you may sell something completely different and many others have 'problems' when using those 'policies'.

OP2 years agoThank you so very much. I found out USPS increased their shipping prices for items over 32" and I've been watching out dated youtube videos. I appreciate your prompt response. Now I understand what I have to do much better. Cheers.
