Sold item being returned due to being prohibited item.

I recently sold a motorcycle part to a customer in the UK. I used eBay's international shipping service. It went to the hub in Illinois and then was returned to me stating that it was a prohibited item. I've sent parts before without issue and now this one was flagged. Nothing I could find on prohibited items would flag this item. Tried to reach out to DHL and eBay about the issue and zero resolution from anyone. Very frustrating.
Anyone had issues with shipping items internationally that got flagged as prohibited items that were not?

·1 month agoactually I just had the happend a few days ago--it was a few bottles of cologne and lotion going to France--I got a reply saying it failed inspection--ebay though actually let me keep the sale and refuned the buyer alothough they didnt ship the item back
really confused on this but it did work out

·1 month agoNot confusing - perfumes, colognes, etc., contain alcohol and are considered by the Airlines to be flammable - so they can not be shipped by plane.

·1 month agoWhat kind of part was it? About a month ago I purchased an ATV engine that have been rejected from international shipping. Still had the paperwork in the box. No reason why was stated?

OP1 month agoIt was triple clamps for a dirt bike. No explanation for the rejection.

·1 month ago@simba6 Sounds like hazardous residue restrictions (trace amounts of fuel and oil), weight restrictions (44Lbs, except Canada - 66Lbs) or even size restrictions killed the sale.

·1 month ago@simba6 eBay's written policy states that they only block used parts containing hazardous residues (like oil or gas). However, the final determination, from what I understand, is done by the staff in Illinois, who have no technical expertise, or time to inspect every single bracket, clamp, or bolt. So, from what I heard, they reject the part, assuming that it may have residual oil or gas on them.

OP1 month agoThat could be the issue then. I still have the lower steering stem bearing on the stem and just wiped the grease off it.
