Shipping Tables for International Sellers
Current Shipping tables doesn't offer the seller the ability to classify the type of service offered and hence is creating great misunderstanding between the seller and the buyer wrong expectations.
It would be great change if eBay technology team modify the shipping tables to allow sellers to:
1. Type of shipping provided: 4 Types
A) Postal Parcels (generally referred to Economy for 30 days and Standard for 15 days)
B) Postal Small Parcels (generally is called registered mail service)
C) Postal Courier (Generally is called EMS, with exception like USPS and Royal Mail)
D) Courier (e.g. FedEx, DHL, and their like)
2. Allow the seller to enter the type at line level for each country which will include allowing the seller to select the country more than once to allow offering more than 1 type of shipping.
3. Allow the seller to enter the lead-time in working days for each type at line level.
4. Encourage sellers to offer more than 1 type and leave the choice to buyer on which one want to use
5. In search in case the item listed with multiple options for shipping, the best match sorting use the lowest rate offered with item.
This differentiation at service level is key to make buyer aware that:
1. If service selected is postal service: the custom clearing process is buyer responsibility (or an agent, they appoint to handle the process): charges in this case will be customs (if any is applicable) + agent service fees + brokerage fees.
2. If service selected is courier: the shipping provider will be doing the clearing process: charges in this case will be customs (if any is applicable) + brokerage fees.
Currently because eBay is acting as VAT IOSS agent for EU and Sales/GST collection in many other countries: buyers thinks when they pay such taxes in advance that they don't have to take care of a custom clearing process and make additional government charges (if applicable)
