shipping questions for other sellers
I sell a lot of books, and occasionally I get a sale for Hawaii. Several years ago, I had a media mail package returned because it couldn't ship to Hawaii. I was out the postage and then had to send it priority. From then on, I have upgraded the shipping to priority. Even though it doesn't happen often, that is a large added expense that I cover.
Do other sellers do this too? Was my returned item a fluke? I'd like to hear from @inhawaii plus any other buyers in Hawaii.

OP3 years agoI offer "free shipping" so calculated really doesn't work for me. The next books sold to Hawaii will go media mail!

·3 years agoIt more than likely was a fluke. I’ve mailed packages Media Mail to Hawaii without issues.

·3 years agoThat was some sort of fluke. You can ship via Media Mail to any ZIP Code including Alaska and Hawaii.
On my listings for MM items, I offer Priority Mail as a second option, so that buyers who are in a hurry have a choice. And if they pay for MM and then complain about slow delivery, I can (politely of course) point out that a faster option was available.
Alternatively you could set up a shipping table and charge AK, HI, and territories a Priority postage rate, and MM for everyone else.
