Shipping Music and Movies - How are people selling for less than shipping costs.
If you pick any popular artist and an album and search for it on eBay you will find many used items (sometime new items) offering free shipping. Either standard shipping (1st Class) or economy (media mail). The cheapest media rate is $3.49. Many items pop up anywhere from $2.99 to $3.49 and up with free shipping. How is this possible? They either know something that I don't know about discounted shipping or they are losing money on every sale. Some of these sellers have volumes of inventory between $3.00 and $4.00. They can't be making any money. Anyone?

·3 years agoThey aren't paying $3.49 to ship those DVDs; they are paying lower bulk rates.

$3+$5 shipping
or
$ 5 with $3.00 shipping
Still $8 total, either way, you look at it.

Many of these sellers offer discounts for multiple purchases. For media mail, the shipping cost doesn't go up much for say, 10 dvds vs. 1.
