Shipping Label Cost
Has anyone seen this and can explain this? I ship using ebay for buying my labels. Mostly I ship USPS Ground Advantage. Example, I put in the weight of 1#7oz. and then enter the size of the box. It gives me a price. then I change the weight to 9#4oz and the price remains the same. No matter what weight I enter the price is always the same, even if I change weight to a few ounces. I thought the price was based on weight. I tried changing the size of the box. Always the same. It is like it is locked on one price. Can you tell me why? Thanks, Andy

·8 months agoHi @eiei428 . Dimensions affect shipping rates just as much as weight, often more so.
What you're seeing is a discounted cubic rate based on package size. eBay charges sellers whichever is cheaper between the weighted rate or the cubic rate.
Changing dimensions may not affect the rate if you're still within the same cubic tier.
For example:
7 x 7 x 7 box = .2 cu ft
7 x 7 x 6 box = .2 cu ft
See where I'm going with this?

·8 months agoI can understand the rate staying the same for a higher weight (within reason) due to ebay now showing the lower cost if it qualified for cubic pricing, but you lost me when you also changed the dimensions. I don't know how much you adjusted them, but if it took it out of cubic pricing, then the rate should have changed.

·8 months agoAs above: you have to click the cursor out of the form field (i.e. anywhere outside of the size or weight number that you just changed) before the revision will take effect and show you an updated price.

·8 months agoAfter you change the weight, are you hitting 'Enter' to set the value (or clicking outside the box) so that the website can validate your input, get the new value, perform the calculation, and update the results?
