Shipping label - buyers received wrong product
Good day all. I sent two packages last week and accidentally switched the labels. I tried to send a new label via eBay messages but the message was rejected by eBay.
The plan was for the buyers to forward the incorrect product to the correct buyer. I've confirmed they are willing to do this.
Anybody else make this blunder and how did you resolve it?

·6 months agoI've read too many posts in which sellers asked their buyers to forward packages to the correct buyer. Although buyers agreed to do it, some didn't follow through.
Personally, I would have both buyers return the items to me and I would reship to the correct buyers. Not only am I paying for and learning from my mistake but I will know that I got the items back (or which buyer didn't return it to me) and that the buyer will get it.

You pay to have the packages returned to you, then you ship to the correct buyer.

·6 months agoThat's the expensive and slow plan. Most people are relatively honest.

But, you don't ask your customers to fix your mistake and you don't share your customers information with other customers.

MOST is the key word. What if customer A sends their wrong item to customer B but customer B decides to keep both?
A can of worms that I wouldn't want to open.........................

·6 months agoIt sounds like a bit of a headache, but it happens to the best of us. The main issue you'll run into is that eBay usually blocks contact info or certain attachments in messages to prevent off-platform deals, which is likely why your label was rejected.
While it is great the buyers are willing to help, asking them to ship to each other can be risky. If something goes wrong or gets lost during that second leg of the trip, you won't have any official tracking to show eBay, and it could void your seller protection.
Most people who make this mistake find it safer to have both buyers open a "not as described" return. You provide two return labels to get the items back to you first, then you resend them to the right adresses. This keeps everything tracked within the system so you stay coverred.
If you still want them to forward it, you might have to upload the label to a third party file host and send the link, but honestly, that might get flagged too. Getting the items back to your house first is usally the cleanest way to fix the blunder.

·6 months agoYou can create shipping labels with Pirate Ship and the PDF files can then be made available to your buyers.
I always pack orders one at a time to avoid the risk of mixing up the shipping labels.
