Shipping issue
I sold an item & the buyer was interested in another item I had. She asked for combined shipping which I didn't have a problem with. But she asked me to hold on to her first item & when she hopefully wins the 2nd one - ship them together. I've been holding the 1st item she already paid for. Now eBay is sending me alerts about not shipping my item on time & it will go against my rating. I'm only holding it because of my seller asking mt to. What do I do. Can't find any place to alert eBay of the unusual situation.

This is in Ebay's policy. They don't allow you to hold. You are required to ship. That's the rule.
What does someone do if they have an emergency & can't get a winning bid shipped out right away?
Nothing you can do. If there is a winning bid you are required to ship out. If not you get a defect. You could appeal it by contacting an Ebay agent and see if they would work with you. We have had complaints where sellers get defects which they were in the hospital and couldn't ship. Ebay is a system and the system treats everyone the same.

·4 months agoYou made a mistake by telling the buyer you can combine ship in this situation. You might not have a problem with it but Ebay does. You are required to ship within your handling time. It is past that time so you will get a defect on your record. What you could've done was come to an agreement with the buyer to purchase that second item with a buy it now and combine ship that way if there weren't any bids. Unfortunately now you just have to wait for the auction to end and combine ship if they win. It's too late to prevent anything now.

OP4 months agoThe buyer had already bid on the 2nd item. I asked her to cancel her bid & then I could cancel the listing & put it back on with a buy-it-now & she could just buy it that way. She never canceled her bid & wanted to just see if her bid won. As it turned out she did win the item & I shipped both of them together to her. She's happy, I'm happy. Just don't know why eBay doesn't have a place where I can explain the hold up in shipping an item. What does someone do if they have an emergency & can't get a winning bid shipped out right away? There are extra things that can happen to people. She is very happy & I'm happy to accommodate a buyer. Maybe she'll buy from me again. All about customer service, isn't it?

·4 months agoYou need to ship within your time frame, doesnt matter what the buyer ask. You need to follow ebay policy, not buyers desire. It an unfortunate circumstance, but by not shipping on time you hurts yourself in ebays eyes
