Shipping from South Africa
Is it possible for me to ship internationally, using eBay International Standard Delivery, from South Africa. What shipping services can I use domestically for eBay?

·3 years agoI have been doing a bit of research in SA and to date the cheapest seems to be IceExpress in SA for shipping from SA to US. Problem is I cannot list it on eBay shipping under 'listing" info as it is only for shipping from US so I cannot list an item as it is rejected automatically due to the Shipping section.

When you are shipping from outside the USA, and listing on eBay.com, you need to figure out how much it will cost to ship to each country and enter that as flat-rate shipping. eBay.com is eBay USA, so shipping to the USA is considered "domestic" shipping. Any other country, including your own country if the item is not in the USA, is considered "international".
For any transaction worth more than US$750, you need to ship with signature confirmation, not just delivery confirmation/tracking. We usually advise people to start small. Don't try to sell high-value items until you have enough experience to know how to avoid being scammed.
Have you registered with Payoneer yet, and linked your Payoneer account to your eBay, so that you can receive payments. If a potential buyer wants to pay you another way, that's a sure sign of a scam. All payments for eBay transactions must be made through eBay.

You have a post office. I've seen the stamps.
Generally, the postal system offers reliable service, lowest prices, and delivers everywhere in the world from Gabarone to Tuktoyaktuk.
You can sell on dotCOM from pretty well anywhere in the world. The only quirks are if you are selling here you have to list in US dollars.
When your payments arrive in US dollars, they will be given to you in RSA rands. There will be currency exchange.
Then you ship.
When you set up your shipping you cannot use the Domestic prices nor will you be able to use Calculated Shipping.
You will be choosing Flat Rate Shipping from an International Location.
That means you need to look at the rate card for the Post Office.

Then you need the weight and dimensions of your shipment.
Do this before you list, unless you can ship everything in an envelope under 300gr and 30mm thick . (There are more details on the website.)
Parcels should be Air Mail.
International Tracking is expensive. Air Mail is pretty fast so you can decide whether or not you trust the international postal union to get your parcel to your buyer in time.
Many of us "international" sellers don't use tracking. We take the chance that our shipments will arrive within the window eBay gives our customer for delivery and just refund on the ones that don't.
BTW- Americans are weird about tracking. Most people are honest. Most parcel arrive in good time. And tracking protects Sellers not buyers.
On the third hand, if your Post Office is like Canada Post, most parcel services include tracking.
If you need more information about selling into the USA, go to either the Australian or the Canadian site.
We are more used to international selling and can give experienced advice.

·2 years ago🤣🤣🤣- using the SA Post Office is like dropping your parcel down a mine shaft and hoping it will bounce off the bottom and miraculously land on the opposite side of the world where you wanted it to! You have a better chance of winning the lottery than getting a parcel of any value delivered by the SAPO, and if you are lucky enough that it does arrive, this will be only in a year or more... Currently the SAPO is alternating being in liquidation or business rescue, has been insolvent for years, and average transit times for international registered parcels are 6-12 months, longer for ordinary post. The only option for us is courier...
