Shipping forma change
I have been commenting and calling about the format change for shipping costs when creating a listing and all I have gotten is the sound of crickets.
The figures are all wrong in some cases. I have cited exanples several times about anomalies. Now with this improvement you only can get the high and low of an estimate. It used to display New York, Chicago and LA.
You also do not know if it is the seller price or the buyers price. Both of these aspects are indispensible in strategy. This is true when sales are down for us little sellers. I was promised by Customer Service to receive a response. Nothing happened. This is like a big I dont care about you . I am asking for help and guidance and trying to help myself and the system. I have spoken to supervision and got great indications that she recognized the impact but no apparent results. See money is money even when and if it is not certain then I would expect immediate action.. I bet if a reduced fee amount was in the system there would be attention. Well I regret being negative but this borders on egregious in multiple aspects. How about a little help or dumping this format until it is proven correct. Check the phone call tapes or records. There are multiple iterations. Please react. Thanks.

·1 year agoThe only reason the calculations are off is because you, the seller, are inputting incorrect information.
This site has NEVER shown you 'various' cities. You need to just look at someone else's item, change your zip code in their shipping, and then you can see what it would cost to that zip code in your listing (doing all this NOT signed in (sign out). Then, repeat with another zip code.
As far as the actual cost- you can 'choose' to either 'pass on' the discount, or not. If you have not chosen, you're doing it wrong. You can also add a 'handling fee'. All this can be done in your 'preferences' using Business Policies.
There is no reason to talk to a rep (which does nothing) or a rep supervisor (which is really the person sitting next to that rep).

OP1 year agoLet me clarify. You are misunderstanding which is my fault. I dont want help in listing. I am reporting some issues
First the numbers are certainly off. You shoudnt assume its due to error.
Secondly-I dont know the buyer cost vs seller cost.
Third sometimes you will find a CS person that cares, its not always useless.
My purpose is to find someone with stripes that will get my concerns recognized and then I can illustrate the irregularities. Capisce?

You will not likely "find someone with stripes" - whatever that is.
Check your shipping in your account and see if the "pass on shipping discount to buyer" setting is activated.
I have not noticed any format changes for shipping.
CS is famous for telling you want you want to hear and doing nothing.

OP1 year agoI dont want to pass on any discount unless I think it helps me. How do I know what the discount is if I cant find it in this new format? Plus ups G to Cal is 150 less than fedex G or same item. Huh? How come I cant get a reaction to that with CS? Yes I know, but what does one do? come here and get Sergeant Carter? Sometimes they do it on a trial basis. Heres one example. It get more dramatic when you drill down

·1 year agoThat's within the listing form, not the standalone shipping calculator. I'm pretty sure the listing form always had a range, but I think in the past there was a link to the shipping calculator and that's what changed for you @bilzbigdealz .
That said, the standalone shipping calc also changed per the post I linked.

Typically I'd direct you to use the standalone calc if the way rates showed on the listing form weren't meeting your needs, but with the new version of the calc it's not going to help at all. I'm still holding out hope eBay will revert the current version of the calculator back to what it was with eBay vs retail rates and the NY/Chicago/LA rates.
If the standalone calc restores its old functionality then you'll be able to use that when the listing form isn't meeting your needs.
But for now, eBay's made it difficult and to get retail rates you have to go through each individual carrier and there's no longer an easy past to the NY/Chicago/LA rates without either knowing the zones compared to your location (for USPS - won't work for UPS/FedEx) or to do a lot of manual entry with different zips.

a.) size
b.) weight
c.) shipping type (are you using UPS, USPS, Fedex?)
d.) zip code
e.) zip code to (use 10001 for New York, 90620 for California for examples)
If you want to know how much a buyer is paying, do as I said, look it up using a different zip code.
For instance, you are selling HUGE items that cost 3-10 times MORE to ship to me in 89029 (nevada) so doubtful you'll have much luck selling anything (Nobody is going to pay $40 for an item that cost an additional $143 to ship it).
Also, did you do as I said? check your business policies- are you offering shipping at
a.) ebay discounted price
b.) retail
c.) are you adding handling fee (ebay charges Final Value Fee to the Shipping amount, so for example the $143 shipping item that sells for $40 will cost you 13.25% of $183 if it sells, for a whopping $25 in fees, netting you $15 for that $40 item.
