Shipping Discount Terms
Summary: pandasclaw intended to offer a flat rate for media mail shipping on multiple book orders but encountered an issue when a customer upgraded to priority mail. thriftyfiftyfifty suggested excluding listings with options other than media mail to resolve the issue. pandasclaw acknowledged the advice and planned to recreate the discount. ryry-jj reiterated that only media mail was offered and recommended verifying the listings. bdmh-enterprises mentioned checking order details for the buyer's selection and explained that shipping defaults might change based on availability. whitewaterford suggested checking the shipping method settings, as the default might be set to standard shipping.
I setup a discount for 2 or more books to ship for a flat rate of $6.50. The intent was for the flat rate to be media mail. A customer ordered 2 books and upgraded the shipping to priority mail. I have paused the discount because I see no means to lock in media mail for the discount. Is there a way?

·1 month ago@pandasclaw I've not done this myself, but was looking at shpping discounts yesterday. The screen looked like this. The default seems to be Standard Shipping. What is your shipping method set for on this discount?
I'm wondering if you want it to apply to Media Mail only, you need to change it to economy shipping there.

·1 month agoWas Media Mail available when you went to buy the label?
On the single label purchase page, if the service that was listed is not available for some reason (miss-categorized, dims over ect.) eBay will show the "buyer selected" icon on the next best thing, it's been like that for some time now. This happens with Standard Envelope a lot when the price goes over the limit, it defaults to GA then. You can see what the buyer actually selected in the 'order details' frame on the right.

·1 month agoI don't know of a way a buyer can select anything other than what you offered as a shipping option. Double check that listing, do a "sell similar" to see again how it was listed. From the few books I looked at, you only offer media mail, which is what you want, no other option is available

OP1 month agoNeither of the sold books were listed with any options for shipping, only media mail. Thanks for the input. I will look into the exclusion, but I did not see a way to specify only media mail items in the revision. I will recreate the discount and see if I can do that upon creation. Thanks again

·1 month ago@pandasclaw Looking at a big chunk of your Listings, for the most part your Media Mail qualifying items ONLY provide a Media Mail Shipping option. Granted I can't really go through all your Listings to verify, but did you happen to have a Priority Shipping Option on one of those books that resulted in this issue? Just curious. If you are doing a specific Shipping Discount Campaign, most eBay Marketing events allow you to "Exclude" Listings. I would say that would be the resolve. Include the specific "only" Media Mail Shipping Option Listings in the Discount and "Exclude" the others via a Bulk change so there is no possibility of other shipping services in the mix.
