Shipping costs
I have a bunch of Halloween costumes. I talked to several people who were shipping their costumes via Media mail. How are they able to do that? How are others shipping their costumes?

·1 year agoVery, very little media mail is actually inspected. But all of it can be inspected, and any package may be inspected if an employee is suspicious that the contents may not qualify.
If inspected and the item does not qualify, the seller/shipper gets an "adjustment" and charged the priority mail price (which can be substantially more.) A buyer may also take it upon themselves to "punish" the seller for being "bad" and using media mail for a non-qualifying item, and leave negative feedback that eBay will not remove (it is also a risk those who misuse the free Priority supplies/packaging run.)

They are dishonest.🤥

·1 year agoI do not believe USPS inspects any where near all or most media mail packages, but they do inspect some, and a light costume might be likely to be inspected.
A light package to a nearby zone might cost more to ship via MM than to ship via GA, so sellers who are selling multiples of new items may be running a risk without an adequate payback for taking the risk.
I ship many items which qualify for MM by GA because it costs less to its destination.

·1 year agoBy breaking the law. USPS inspects most media packages anyway and will bill the seller if items are found that can't be shipped media rate.

·1 year agoMedia mail is for use just as the name implies, using it for another purpose is a MAJOR USPS no-no. Whatever people you spoke with are foolhardy for doing so.

·1 year agoDon't listen to those uninformed persons. Seriously. Costumes are not eligible for Media Mail and you risk consequences from USPS if caught. You also risk items arriving to your buyers postage due and claims being filed against you.
Don't be an uninformed person. Ship USPS Ground Advantage. 🙂
