Shipping Costs.
Is it just me or does it seem that shipping USPS keeps getting higher and higher while speed of service and care go down. It’s not even first class anymore, it’s ground shipping and it doesn’t get scanned as often as first class or priority mail does.

·1 year agoFirst class packages used to go by air, like first class letter mail. Just before the name change to "Ground Advantage" the post office started shipping FC packages ground, prices were the same for a lower service. Then the name change, no price or service changes. Then, prices for GA go up drastically over the last 2-3 years. So yes, we are absolutely paying more for slower service for packages under 1lb. That does not even touch on GA versus Priority over 1lb.

I have not had your experience. It might be because I live in the DC metro area, where a lot of political pressure is exerted to move the mail in a timely manner. There are snafus, but service has been and remains excellent for me. My media mail is delivered from the east coast to the west in about 72 hours.
As for first class... that is now called "ground advantage." Same service, different name.
And regarding scanning: the only way to be sure that gets done is to stand in line and ask for it when its your turn. I've been doing that for years.

·1 year agoWell you are kind of late to the party. This stuff has already been talked about. Rates have gone up. There was a holiday rate increase which started a month ago. So yes there have been increases. When it comes to scanning if you are a seller it's always wise to scan your package directly with a clerk scanning it or at a USPS kiosk.

·1 year agoA few months ago, USPS announced that there would be an increase in rates effective, I think, the last week of October or the first week of November.
