Shipping Confusion
I need help to fix what I am doing wrong. When I post my item to sell I pre package the item. Weigh it and put dimensions in. Buyer checks out with shipping price that has calculated. I use ebay shipping labels. When I go to print out the shipping label, the cost of the shipping label is cheaper than what the buyer has paid for shipping. How do I fix this so they pay the lower shipping price? I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Thank you for your help.

·4 months agoSorry if I’m derailing the topic, but do buyers see that a listing is using calculated shipping or not? I know they can test the listing by entering different zip codes in the shipping section, but is there a way for them to find out right off the bat?

·4 months agoNo, it's not explicitly stated anywhere. It's also not shown to the buyer if the seller is adding a handling fee.

·4 months agoAs others have mentioned, you are probably set up for your listings to show buyers the Retail rate, and when you go to print the label, you are being charged the Ebay Discounted rate.
You can charge the buyers the discounted rate if you would like. You can change your settings here:

To opt out of eBay discounted rates, deselect the boxes next to the rates offered and select Save.
This will charge the buyer exactly what you are paying for shipping, but you will still be charged fees on that, so you'll be losing money (unless you've already factored that loss into the cost of the item).

·4 months agoYou're probably charging the buyer the retail rate and keeping your online discount.
Why is this a problem? You do realise you have to pay FEES on the shipping price, right?
In other words if the buyer ONLY pays what YOU pay, you're losing money on every parcel you mail.

·4 months agoYou may have your settings to charge retail for shipping but the price you pay is the lower commercial price.
You may not want to change anything. Since your fees are based on the full payment made by the buyer (including tax and shipping), changing the shipping to the exact amount will cost you money.
