shipping charges
I just sold a pair of boots that the listing had shipping of $13 plus dollars (MY COST)
eBay charged them a lesser charge if they used FED EX.
THEY DID NOT

When a seller goes to purchase a label, they do have choices of which carrier and service to use but they aren't allowed to downgrade and they aren't allowed to change carriers.
If the listing advertised GA from USPS, the seller is allowed to upgrade to Priority mail.
If the listing advertised Priority mail, the seller isn't allowed to downgrade to GA.
And if the seller didn't offer the buyer other carrier options to choose from, the seller isn't supposed to change from what the listing showed.
My point to the OP, @sellingueverythingnow was that the listing didn't offer Fedex as an option so even if Fedex is less expensive than the GA offered in the listing, the buyer wouldn't have been able to choose it, nor should the seller ship with that service without (at least) consulting with the buyer.

·9 months agoTotally wrong. Misinformation.
Last few sales, when I go to Buy Label, I have choices between USPS and FedEx. I chose USPS Ground Advantage when creating listing. Buyer bought listing with GA showing a shipping. I do not offer choices when creating listings. I am NOT going to deal with FedEx and UPS. When buying label, I can move that little Blue Dot off of GA down to FedEx Ground to save .62 cents if I choose to. That is changing Carriers.
Week before Christmas I won an Auction that had USPS Ground Advantage for shipping. Took Seller 3 days to finally buy shipping label. When I go see my notice that item had been shipped, Seller bought a FedEx Label instead of the GA label I paid for. Package was delivered by FedEx. Seller changed the Carrier.

·9 months agoSellers can now change Carrier AFTER the sale. I list ALL mine with USPS Ground Advantage only. When I'm creating the listing, I go in a click on GROUND ADVANTAGE. I have choices, and sometimes FedEx Ground is cheaper than GA, but I only choose GA. Look at ALL my listings, everything shows Ground Advantage. I don't trust FedEx or UPS with all these up charges they're hitting Sellers with. I'm not going to deal with it. Plus, what I sell, NO Reason to be using FedEx or UPS.
First few months back, I made a sale, Label was automatic, USPS Ground Advantage. Lately, last month or so, I make a sale, when I go to "Buy" Label, ebay is now giving me choices between all 3. PO, Fed, UPS. This is after the sale where the Buyer bought it showing Ground Advantage. I never change it, I buy, and print out a GA label. Main reason for what I said above. Second, that's what the Buyer paid for.
As a BUYER, I'm also looking at how it is going to be shipped to me. I look for USPS mainly. I live in a High End 55+ Retirement - Independent Living Community. We have controlled access here. Down in the Mail Room, PO Boxes and Lockers, a Huge Amazon Locker. Very secure. First you have to get into the building, then you have to get into the Mail Room. FOBS for everything. Post Office and Amazon have full access. If FedEx or UPS shows up when Office is closed, or after hours, they may not get Tenants packages delivered. Lot of Tenants packages never get delivered, or go missing not because of Theft, but due to incompetent FedEx and UPS Drivers who just send packages back because first, they showed up after hours and the Gate was closed. Or second, they showed up and Office was closed and couldn't get into the Hallways. I was actually doing my evening walk one night and walked under our huge Porte Corche where the Front Entrance was and ran across a stack of FedEx Deliveries the Driver piled up behind a Park Bench we have there by the front door. PO'd me big time. I grabbed them and carried them in and walked them to each of my Neighbors door myself.
I bring this up because I just had an Auction I won where it was Ground Advantage I paid for. When Tracking started 3 days later, it was FedEx. Seller changed it AFTER I paid. I paid for USPS GA. Seller cheaped out and changed to FEDX Ground. Ticked Off? A little bit. Office was Closed 4 days for Xmas, about the estimated delivery time. Was I going to get my delivery or not I was thinking? It made it. Didn't get here til following Tuesday. Office was open. It was at my door. BUT, I would not have bid if it was FedEx Ground up front. I would have passed.
Sellers don't need to be changing Carriers AFTER the sale. If I paid for USPS Ground Advantage, I expect USPS Ground Advantage.

I'm only seeing the option for USPS Ground Advantage -- no FedEx.

·9 months agoThose boots show $11.97 to ship to me in Tx with ground advantage. The buyer can only choose which shipping option you listed.
