On the 19th we were charged $8.24 to ship an item and today we were charged and additional $4.85 for that shipment with a note saying "underpayment". The carrier was UPS and the item was shipped using Ebay's charges and labels. Percentage wise this is a significant difference. I have been shipping with all the major carriers for 35 years. My weights and dimensions pre-populated are ALWAYS either 100% perfect or just slightly heavier or 1" over for every dimension as a precaution. I've been in this position before when using our own accounts for shipping, and in my experience if you allow the carrier to do this - they will keep doing it. THEY NEED TO BE CALLED OUT. Ebay was of no help, they now claim to just be the "middle man" and that I need to speak with UPS directly. NO. I DID NOT USE MY OWN UPS ACCOUNT, I USED EBAY AND THEY SHOULD HANDLE THIS. We have sold multiples of this item and never had a cost adjustment before. I realize A LOT of sellers probably do not enter correct weights and dims. We are not one of them. I also realize Ebay has to go off what the carrier says, as they don't really know what anyone ships. However if this exact scenario is happening to you, SPEAK UP and complain about it TO EBAY. Ebay has helped me dispute shipping charges before on my other accounts so I don't know if their policy has changed or if this situation was too cheap for them to deal with. The money isn't the issue though it's the principal.
