shipping
On my listing shipping was for 1st class large envelope. When the item sold it changed my shipping to usps ground advantage which is more expensive for the weight and size of the item sold. This has happened numerous times. has anyone else gotten this problem??

·8 months agoIf you are trying to ship gaming tokens, you can ship them as regular letter mail, in letter envelopes, as non-machineable letters. Some might technically ok for eBay Standard Envelope (first class letter machineable), eBay allows coins, don't know if they are in allowed ESE category and I don't know if they would be too big, I'd ship the tokens first class non-machineable (use a special non-machineable stamp, and write "non machineable" on the envelope) to be safe. If in doubt, ask your local post office and they can help you determine eligibility for letter, non-machineable letter and large envelope rates.
When one selects Large First Class Envelope as an option for a buyer, eBay should give you an informational message when you go to print postage for that item, something to the effect of, "You chose First Class large envelope as your default shipping method, we don't provide FCLE postage but you can use the appropriate amount of postage stamps or purchase postage at your local post office, or please choose an alternative shipping method we can provide below." (if anyone from eBay is watching, please feel free to use this, no charge!) It might help clarify things.
If you are going to ship items Large Envelopes, be sure they are compatible; LEs have a different flexibility requirement than regular letters/ESE. Make sure you do the test where you hang the envelope halfway off a table, lengthwise parallel to the edge of the table; it must easily flex 1" below the table. And they must be machineable and flat (no lumps) like letter envelopes.
I really wish eBay would add an eBay Standard Large Envelope, Pitney Bowes provides ESE (metered letter mail) postage and could provide ESLE postage as well. With the difficulties some have with standard letter flexibility, I can understand why they are reluctant to do a large envelope as well, which has more complex requirements, but it would be nice to have the option for those who understand how to use it properly.

Those gaming tokens which you have sold may be too rigid to qualify for USPS First Class Envelope shipping -- the envelopes need to pass quickly through a variety of high-speed roller systems, and those tokens may jam up the works.

·8 months agoYou made a faulty assumption. You cannot by postage for First Class Letter or Large Envelope from Ebay.
You also will lose all claims for item not received if you use these services which do not include tracking.
Items which do not justify the cost of Ground Advantage, may be too inexpensive to sell online.

OP8 months agoSome of the item are thin, less than a 1/4" and are light. There were instances where the postage to ship was correct. What I am saying is there is a listing for shipment for 1st class large envelope. I didn't create it it was there and a very good option to use.

·8 months agoDo you mean a listing by a another seller? Just because they are using it doesn't mean that is a suitable option, nor does it mean they have any idea what they are doing.

·8 months ago@cocacolamaui You cannot buy First Class postage through eBay. The only thing close to it is eBay Standard Envelope, and that service is restricted to certain categories.
You can offer First Class as a service, but you will have to put stamps on it or buy postage at the counter at USPS. It will not have tracking with it, so be sure to mark it shipped once you mail it.
