Shipping
Ebay needs to improve its shipping process. When a label is printed, even if most sellers don't use ShipStation (which they should), the item is marked as shipped when it isn't. Most resellers rely on the item being scanned by the carrier to confirm shipment.
the item isn't the problem, the way the beginning process to me is. I wish some resellers would stop saying the item is shipped when its not in the hands of the carrier.

·11 months agoHave you checked with shipstation to help you fix your shipping problems? I notice you promote them in your feedbacks for other sellers, so I'm curious as to how your shipping became so messed up. Are you having problems fixing the shipping or revising your listings? Should we avoid shipstation so this doesn't happen to us?

OP11 months agoShipstation isn’t the issue. People just need to hire a coder to check the settings. eBay, on the other hand, isn’t perfect either. I once had a developer, a programmer, a coder who was like the Babe Ruth of the industry, but sadly he passed away in January. When he was alive, he showed me various things, and I believe many resellers should work with a developer as well. It would make the process run more smoothly.

·11 months agoI don't know why I would need a coder and what settings to I need to have checked? I still don't understand why so many of your listings are offering the wrong shipping method. Are you not able to correct them?

·11 months agoI posted about this exact issue a while ago, all sellers need to either scan there packages in at the machine or wait inline and have them scanned in by a employee.
usps in some locations are no longer scanning all packages in at the drop off location like they have in the past 30+ years
they throw them on a truck and off it goes to the nearest hub where the truck might sit for hours or even a day or two before it actually gets scanned in.
otherwise you"might" get dinged for late shipments, DEPENDING on how you have your handling time set.
keep in mind your handling time also defines how your product is presented on ebay as well as other factors.
if the tracking shows it was shipped (carrier accepted scan) within your stated handling time then if the carrier drops the ball and it arrives late you are covered in more ways than 1

OP11 months agoI agree with majority of what you're stating. It is up to the carrier if the package pickup on usps site if people go that route, then again I understand the rest of the country is different. If more resellers did the option of package pickups it might make a difference.

·11 months agoUp until late July, all of my shipments were picked up the same business day the label was printed.
They were scanned by USPS the next business day, because all the mail was sent to the sorting center in the wee hours of the morning.
Now they are still picked up the same business day as the label is printed. They may be scanned around noon the next business day, or not for one or more additional days.
Ebay cannot solve what is not its problem, and not its seller's problem.
About 60% of the country, where the origin PO is more than 50 miles from the first distribution center are undergoing these changes.
There is no requirement that Ebay sellers stand on a line in the PO to get a scan so that you are happier with what you see.
Expect to receive your shipments by the end of the Ebay estimated delivery period, assuming no act of god interferes.

·11 months agoCarriers are 'required' to 'scan' upon pickup (although many don't; i've been lucky, in SoCal and again a 'subcontracting carrier' here in NV does it).
Then, tracking will show 'Picked Up (with City/State)

·11 months agoPersonally it might be a better idea to focus on offering correct postage methods on your listings than criticizing how fast another seller hands their package to the mail carrier after printing. You have numerous listings offering media mail from pecans to a stuffed bear that do not qualify. That can cause way more problems with shipping than your complaint.

·11 months agoThis, among many of your other items, do not qualify for USPS Media Mail shipping. You act as if these settings were suddenly changed. I looked at the history of this listing in particular. You last updated your shipping in December 2024. So you are telling me that for the past 9 months you've been shipping this as Media Mail and didn't know you couldn't?

·11 months agoSellers don't mark an item shipped; Ebay does.
As do almost all websites that ship things: Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Kohls, Macy's etc etc.
When a tracking number is given, that means the label has been PAID for (buyer has PAID the shipping label cost); Therefore, that IS the beginning of the shipping process.
Although, starting soon, ebay will be showing 'shipped' ONLY when carrier scans it that is in their hands.

·11 months agoFrom personal experience, I can tell you that, even if a shipment shows that a label was created and nothing else that doesn’t mean that the item is not in the hands of the carrier. I’m running at at least 15% of items that I know are out with the USPS not showing any scans. I might have an entire week between drop off at the post office and a first scan – it happens a lot. The smaller the item, the greater likelihood that I’m not receivingtracking updates or even an original tracking updates or even an origin scan.

·11 months agoWhen a seller prints out the label and shipped that doesn't mean the item is in possession of the carrier that just means you have a tracking number. You need to then go back to that tracking number at a later time to see when the item is in possession. That's how it has been when printing out labels. There is no way the carriers are going to change that. The old way of manually typing in a tracking number when an item has shipped has been slowly phased out by many sellers. Now if say an item which has no tracking and the seller just clicks "Mark shipped" well that's on the seller. They take full responsibility for not having tracking.

OP11 months agopitney bowes is another problem I have too. but the system they need better system. I know for a fact if a tracking number but in possession for the carrier.

Then when you click the tracking, it says "Label created; USPS is awaiting the item"

·11 months agoI think it all depends on how the particular post office scans in their packages. Mine does not usually scan it immediately, but it eventually happens. So when I ship something, I message my customer right afterward saying something like:
"Tracking through the Ebay link should see activity in an hour or two"

I have seen similar messages.
Some larger vendors use a third party fulfillment program that has it's own descriptive text...
The 'headlines' I posted are from ebay. For example, when I order items from some larger packing supply companies I receive "BOTH" email notifications, one such as the one above, as well as one similar to the one you posted from the vendors own internal system.
