Shipped via Ebay International Shipping. Item maked as "missing customs documents" and hasn't moved
I had an international buyer (from Chile) buy one of my listings. This was my first time ever using EIS.
The tracking shows it arrived in Miami two weeks ago and that it is "missing customs documents" and it has been "on hold" since then without any further updates.
Isn't a benefit of EIS supposed to be they handle all customs? Seems ridiculous an item shipped by EIS would be missing customs documents of all things.
I know I'm not responsible for what happens to the package once it is delivered to the EIS hub, but I'd still like for my buyer to get their stuff.
What happens when something is missing customs documents? Should I expect the package to move eventually? Does the delivery service notify Ebay about it? Should I even do anything? Or just wait for the buyer to eventually contact me and be like, where's my stuff?

·2 years agoOnce the shipment reaches the eIS plant in Glendale Heights, the seller has fulfilled their responsibility for delivery.
Don't watch tracking.
EIS is a Seller Protection program and a freight forwarder.
Don't watch tracking.
If the buyer complains about delivery, it is not your responsibility. Tell the customer to file an INR claim. It has nothing to do with you.
EIS also protects you against the "customs delay" scam.
EIS also protects you agains Not As Described disputes.
You are still responsible for NADs, but you can demand the return, even if you have a No Returns policy, and supply a shipping label from the eIS plant.
The buyer has to get the disputed item to the plant to use the label or pay for return shipping themselves.
Don't watch tracking.

·2 years agoBefore Miami, did you have confirmed delivery to the eIS hub, presumably in Glendale Heights, IL, before the package was forwarded to the buyer?

OP2 years agoYes, it was delivered to Glendale Heights without issue on March 15th. EIS shipped it out via Asendia on March 18th and it has been stuck in Miami since the 20th for missing documents. I've been checking the Asendia tracking every day hoping there'd be an update but there's nothing

·2 years agoDon't waste your time checking tracking every day. Either the package will get to the buyer or it won't.
If the buyer files a non-receipt claim eBay will take care of it. If the buyer sends you a message, tell them to file a non-receipt claim and eBay will take care of it.
eIS is great, but not perfect. Stuff is going to happen on occasion.
You have a delivery scan to the hub so you have seller protections.

Since you have received confirmation from eBay that the package was confirmed received by EIS, any problems thereafter are on eBay's shoulders -- you will not be responsible for any refunds.
If your buyer contacts you, advise them to contact EIS, instead.
If the package has further shipping problems before it is sent overseas, it may be returned to EIS, where eBay may resell the item, according to what other previous threads have disclosed.
Don't fret what is no longer your problem.
