Shipped the incorrect item by mistake
I shipped an incorrect item by mistake. By the time I realised the mistake, the item was already in transit. I have notified the buyer. Should I wait for the item to be received by the buyer, prior to shipping the correct item? I am trying to get a hold of an agent to let them know that this has happened, but have not been successful.

Is the item you should have shipped the Intel Core i9-12900K Desktop Processor?
What did you ship in error? If it's cheap, just let it go and ship the computer.
Be sure to add the new tracking number to the order.

Regardless if you do or not, ship the correct item immediately.

·1 year agoFirst off, from what I read on these boards contacting an agent can be risky because of the incorrect info.
Decide what you would like to do and then present your proposal to your buyer.
>>Do you want buyer to open a INAD case so you can get the item back (on your dime) then refund the buyer in full?
>>Do you want buyer to open a INAD case so you can get the item back (on your dime) then send the buyer the correct item, at no additional charge, when you receive the incorrect item?
Are you willing to just let your buyer keep incorrect item (at no charge) and you will ship out correct item at no additional charge?

·1 year agoSince you have messaged the buyer already, I would pack up the correct item and ship it today.
No need to "get a hold of an agent" because there is nothing CS can do to help you.
Make sure you message the buyer with the new tracking number.
Also let the buyer know that you do not expect them to return the incorrect item.
FYI - if they do a return it would be a bigger mess.
eBay is not user friendly when sellers ship the incorrect item.

·1 year agoI did the exact same thing but didn't notice it. My buyer let me know and I was mortified. I told them to keep the item and I would replace at no charge. I did however, contact CS and it was of no use, but being a "by the book" kind of gal, I thought it was the right thing. As long as you are not selling outside of eBay and or policy, sometimes it is easier to deal with it head on.
