Sellers who overprice shipping..
Hi everyone Happy New Year,
I purchased a Marc Jacobs’ Bag that looked almost new and is in excellent condition. It was Buy a Now/Best offer, I was gonna go to other buyers offers, since the seller let my offers expire. But those other sellers were selling the bag at a higher price but included free-shipping. When I got the bag this morning, I was shocked to receive a very thin shipping bag, I was expecting priority shipping, for the price I paid. I nearly cut the bag due to the cheap shipping bag. Plus it took nearly 10 days for me to receive it. How should I rate the seller?

·1 year agoWhen I am looking at an item to purchase, and I have questions about how it will be shiped, I ask the seller. then I know.

·1 year agoIf you got the bag in the condition expected, for the shipping service your expected and in the time frame you expected, the only appropriate options are positive feedback or no feedback at all. The packaging job wasn't... great... in my opinion, but it did get there safely, so you did get your item as expected and the seller fulfilled his end of the transaction.
Personally, If I was shipping an item that expensive it would be in a box, cocooned in bubble wrap with additional cardboard on the top and bottom to prevent a buyer from accidentally cutting into the box while opening it and damaging the item. I have done this a long time and can anticipate all kinds of possible damage to an item and pack accordingly. Problem is, quality packaging costs a bit more time and money. Those who charge more for an item and/or shipping may do a better job with packaging their items than the person charging the absolute lowest price.
If you are concerned about packaging, I would check a seller's feedback first and see if others have commented on their packaging; find someone with good feedback regarding their packing and go with them, even if it is a bit more than others with unknown packaging quality, at least for items that are expensive.

OP1 year agoFirst some of you sellers commenting on my post, come off as just flat out rude with responding to my post, totally unnecessary. I was just asking for advice. The other listings I looked at with that same bag was at was higher price but included free shipping. So I think it is win nevertheless, I was just a little shocked about the type of shipping bag for a medium- high priced name brand bag and that I nearly cut the bag. The seller wasn’t specific on what type of shipping service the bag would have been shipped in, just the price. Yes I did put in consideration the weekend but forgot about January 9th. I guess me selling items, I get spoiled by most times sending my sold items thru Priority Mail.

I would suggest using Ground Advantage instead. It costs the buyer less in most cases and carries the same $100 max insurance included. Arrival time is almost as fast as Priority and in short hops might even be the same.

The price of shipping has nothing to do with packaging or the swiftness of the delivery.
What I'm getting at is it doesn't matter if your bag arrived in a bag or a box. How you would ship it doesn't matter. Shipping would have been more expensive in a heavier box.
You said it looks almost new and was in excellent condition. Getting it in 5 business days sounds OK to me, especially since I don't know the seller's handling time, distance and method.
You're not obligated to leave feedback but if the bag matched the description, looks almost new and in excellent condition you should leave them positive feedback.

·1 year agoI would focus on the facts: Did it arrive undamaged? More significantly, was it mailed within the promised Handling time, and was it shipped using the method that you paid for?
If the listing states Priority Mail shipping, then you should indeed have received a Priority Mail package. (That's "Priority" as in the label on the package. The "cheap shipping bag" can travel with weight-based/zone-based Priority postage on it; only Flat Rate Priority is required to use Flat Rate Priority packaging.)

·1 year agoIf you really want to let this seller know about how bad it was receiving exactly what you ordered at the price you bought it at I would suggest messaging them that you will not even leave a review because you got the bag you wanted but you are upset that it arrived. so no review at all for you stinky seller. that way you can have the personal satisfaction of wronging someone for doing their job correctly. it's wednesday and you have gotta get a win in somehow.

·1 year agoSounds like the seller gave you a better price and you had no issues at all. you kinda sound like a not so great buyer because nothing bad happened to you in this order but you're still complaining. I think some people call that being a "karen" although I am not sure. but end of the day you got a better price you got the item you wanted and you're complaining about nothing wrong happening. you gotta remember when you nearly cut something you did not cut it nothing happened. you got the exact item you ordered. so it's very hard to see how you wouldn't give this seller a positive review.

·1 year agoJust me, I usually detail how the item will be shipped. For instance, in books, I will have in the listing: this item will be shipped in a box. Or if it is a thin book or magazine, this item will be shipped ina shipping envelope. Other items, like yarn or craft kits will usually be spelled out how they will ship.
I offer every shipping option for an item. For books: media, ground advantage and priority. The buyer chooses. I also have typical delivery times:
Ground Advantage: Estimated delivery in 2-5 days
Priority: Estimated delivery in 1-3 days
Media mail: Estimated delivery within 2-8 business days
These delivery times are estimates only, not guarantees.

Yet have a 4.8- or 4.9-star rating for shipping costs.............................
I would have so many dollars I would no longer need to be a seller on this platform.

IMO…I would say you have nothing to be upset about.
If you can’t say anything nice…then refrain from leaving feedback. Feedback is NOT mandatory.

·1 year agoIf it arrived in good condition, then you should not give a poor rating. The type and cost of shipping was shown to you before you clicked buy. Sounds like you chose the best deal. Unless the seller said it would ship priority, that should not be a part of your rating. Depending on the distance shipped, that is not so much of a difference in either cost or delivery speed. The weather has been poor and there was a holiday in there.

·1 year agoYou should know exactly the type of shipping it was coming to you because it was on the listing and you agreed to it when you purchased it. To 'expect' priority when it wasn't shown is unreasonable. Yes, shipping is high, but that is true for all types of shipping. If the bag was not damaged and was shipped exactly the way that was in the listing, then there is no issue.

Shipping costs are based on weight, distance and package size. Many buyers fail to know how much it actually costs to ship.
You chose the seller with his shipping cost, if you are unhappy, it is based on your decision and you should have chosen another seller if you were going to be unhappy with the shipping.

·1 year agoI agree - I list all my items with the buyer paying the shipping (usually USPS ground advantage)- which is calculated by weight, size, zip code coming and going. I don't think a lot of buyers even check where the item is shipped from. I know that some sellers pad their shipping to pay for costs. I am not one of them. I ship from New Jersey, so anything going to California is going to be expensive. It's offensive to me when I do my best to ship things as cheaply as possible and a buyer thinks the shipping is too expensive.

Was the bag damaged?
What shipping service is shown on the shipping label?
Keep in mind over the last 10 days there were 2 weekends and 1 Thursday holiday.
So you ordered on Sat the 4th. Even if it shipped next business day on the 6th, that means you received the bag within 5 business days.
