Sellers delay shipping
Summary: dpikop1 raised concerns about delays in shipping items they purchased on eBay, despite paying promptly. They identified issues where sellers either delay shipping, create shipping labels without dispatching the items timely, or require prompting to ship items. bonanza125 advised focusing on the estimated delivery date and checking seller feedback for patterns of delays, noting sellers face penalties for late shipments. babyers88 pointed out that sellers can set their handling times, suggesting potential buyers inquire about shipping times prior to purchasing for clarity on timelines. akrada_ywepvj confirmed experiencing a similar issue with a seller exceeding their stated shipping timeframe.
Recently, I have won several items that have been delayed to ship. I pay for all items immediately, many with shipping (and handling) charges. While eBay states an estimated delivery date for all, sellers either: 1) wait to ship for 3-5 days after payment; 2) create a label to show it was shipped, but then take 3-5 days for it to be dropped off to the carrier; 3) do not abide with their promise of shipping within XX days; or 4) do not ship until I contact them.
I purchase items with the estimated delivery date in mind, but am frequently disappointed. Why does eBay appear to support this shipping delay practice?

·1 month ago · EditedAgreed. My current seller explicitly says they will ship within two days of the order. It's been 5 days.
They have not responded to my contact. I can't report them to eBay for another week, but this is frustrating. If they're doing ship late, they could at least have let me know.

·10 months agoEach seller can set there own handling time, so it could be anywhere from same day to 40 days later.
some people are busy and/or only have limited time to get things done.
I can only suggest asking before purchasing how fast will it get shipped or look and see what the estimated delivery date is, that generally gives you a good idea.

·10 months agoAll that matters is the estimated delivery date. One day after file a case if you choose to. It comes down to the handling time in the listing. If the seller doesn't ship in time they do get penalized. You just don't know it. I would recommend checking feedback to see if anyone else mentioned shipping delays or low shipping score on DSR. Yes you could also reach out to the seller and ask if they will ship asap. Not all sellers have delay handling times and things just happen. Nobody really knows what is going on in the life of specific sellers.
