sellers and shipping
I have been a positive member of Ebay since prior to 2018 and have always paid for my purchases at the time of purchase and never ever not paid for an item. Never has an item been returned either. Unfortunately after my last item is shipped within the next few days i will no longer be an Ebay customer. I am very disappointed in the service that i have gotten from some sellers. About 50% of the time i have to prompt a seller to send me my item, usually after about 3 days of it sitting there in the "AWAITING SHIPMENT" status. This irks me....why do i have to prompt you to send me my item? i paid for it at the time of purchase, it is your responsibility to send it. I understand if it is a Friday nite and you have to wait until Monday morning for the postal service to process, but in most situations this occurs in the middle of the week. In some instances i have had to send 3 emails to get someone to respond to my inquiry and then have had to ask Ebay to step in and wait an extra almost 10 days to get a refund! this sucks...why do i have to wait the 10 days? they got my money within 3 at least, they should lose it in 3! With the way banks are now with processing transactions it should not take longer than 2 days except for weekends to process debit transactions....
i have gotten a response from some sellers that say "it takes us 5 days to process transactions before we can ship your purchase", really? So you have so many items you have to dig through stuff to find the item? Those people i stay away from now. I check the whole ad before i buy the item.....
I have bought items from Illinois which is next to Ohio (where I live) and it has take 7 business days to reach me....no kidding. it goes around the whole United States first i guess....please don't use the pandemic as an excuse anymore...its over people.
When did people stop caring about customer service, i am a firm believer in treat others as you would like to be treated. Is it too much to ask to send a quick email to someone and tell them that something came up but you will be mailing their item as soon as possible? Some people just don't think that far ahead i guess....
Too bad...Ebay will lose another customer...ME

·2 years agoI am primarily a seller on Ebay. I do my best to lower buyer expectations of shipment arrival and then exceed their expectation.
Many sellers are just barely able to meet buyer expectations when all of the stars are properly aligned.
I do not think there are any more US sellers in that category than there were way back in the days when Pierre ran the place, but there are a lot of offshore sellers who are desperate for hand currency who are trying to get it by selling on Ebay. There are also a lot of desperate US sellers but there have always been.
Perhaps what you want to buy or the prices you are willing to pay have brought you to these disappointing sellers. You should not expect delivery before the date Ebay estimates, and not nag the seller about delivery until it is obvious the order will be delivered late.
The press tells us that mental health issues have risen in the US population, and people with mental health issues may not be functional.

·2 years agoI approach shipping in a similar way. Typically i ship out items same day or within a day. A lot of times i will put a 3-5 day handling time frame on listings that may need more attention to packing. (larger items or items that may take me some time to find.) I also communicate as a Seller frequently through out the process to let them know when i ship out items, i track purchases (some) and communicate if they are taking longer or when they are out for delivery and also will follow up after the sale (1-3 days) to thank them for the business. Yes this can take some time but i set up a few different form responses that i can cut, paste and send. This makes it easier while keeping the seller informed. Many buyers appreciate it and there are some that i never hear back from.
I have had customers want same day shipping (when i have 3-5 days handling) and i typically grant them their request as long as i know i can do it. I also let them know that shipping times can vary due to many uncontrollable factors. Most of the time these customers are grateful.

·2 years agoI can’t recall ever having this problem, but I don’t purchase items I need immediately either. As mentioned, there usually is a handling time under shipping you can see before buying and you always get an estimated delivery date. That date dictates when you can file a case. I rarely have any need to contact sellers I buy from. Looks like you’ve had many successful purchases.

·2 years agoAgain, there is always an estimated date of delivery in the listing.
Why would an experienced eBayer such as yourself not know that?
And if you need something in a big hurry, surely you know that eBay is not the place to shop for that item.

·2 years ago"some people"....correct...these are people and not companies who sell on eBay.
A seller has so many "business days" before they "have" to ship it.
Reading the date when it is suppose to be shipped could have helped.
An item states "estimated date of delivery"....your beef makes no sense.
Unless your item doesn't arrive on time then I can say a buyer can complain.
There are situations where there are heavy rain storms, hail, tornadoes, flooding, etc. which can delay anything being shipped.
"eBay will lose another customer"...Oh well....sayonara.

·2 years agoIt’s all about perspective. There are many times I place an order and a seller can’t ship for days, or even weeks, because their postal service is delayed due to Russian missile strikes, areas in which the seller lives is now under hostile occupation, or loss of utilities under further notice.
But hey… if it takes a few extra days to send me a set of keychains or a T- shirt, I can sweat it out. I mean, what are we buying on the ‘ Bay that is worth the stress on our end that we forget that it may be tough on the other end?

·2 years agoIf you are wanting the item purchased quickly, a good idea would be to contact the seller before purchasing it asking them if they can expedite and/or when they would ship it out.
As others have stated, there also is a handling time the sellers have to ship the item out.
Its hard to say why some sellers take longer than others but contacting them before hand may prevent any of your problems.
-Good luck

·2 years agoYou need to check the sellers handling time, it can be anywhere from same day shipping to 30 days.
Some sellers won't ship until the payment has been processed and the money is in their checking account, which takes a few days.
Some sellers might only ship once or twice a week.

·2 years agoThere's probably no need for me to tell you this, so a gentle reminder:
Every eBay listing includes an estimated delivery date.
The seller is never obligated to ship immediately. His only obligation is to ship so that your purchase arrives before, on or even a day or two past the EDD.
If that does not happen, you are no doubt aware of the Money Back Guarantee.
Have never felt that harassing the seller about shipping has any good effect.
Don't plan to use the pandemic as an excuse, just want to point out that there are issues with the USPS pretty much all over the country.
