Seller shipping costs

Hi, I'm pretty new. Had an account YEARS ago and restarted about 3 months ago. I tried asking eBay about it but can't seem to get an answer. When I click on the item to ship out to the buyer, I select that buyer pays for shipping, but then when I'm done I Get Label, and then it charges me to buy the shipping label. So both myself and the buyer are paying the same price for shipping on each end. I spoke with a buyer. My item was $100, she said with service fees, taxes, shipping, etc it came to about $126. Not only did she pay extra which wasn't the problem, I only received $80 of that. I can see taxes and fees, but paying for the shipping label? It specifically said for the buyer to pay shipping. Neither of us could understand why we both we paying the same amount for shipping. She was surprised to hear that as well. Am I doing something wrong?

OP2 weeks agoI know that you are right but I'm just trying to make sense of it in my head. I think I would understand this better being into finances and accounting. It'll hit me out of the blue in a couple hours and it'll be my AHA moment of the day. Thanks for both of your inputs. Enjoy the rest of your weekend

·2 weeks agoRight, the buyer pays you to ship it and you use that money to pay the carrier to deliver it.

·2 weeks ago · EditedHere is how it works. The buyer pays you the shipping cost and you as the seller purchases the shipping label. So it's not costing you anything other Ebay fees for shipping cost. Your account then gets deducted the shipping label which you were paid originally from the sale of the item.
