Round mailing tubes causing issues with USPS ?
A few weeks ago a package shipped by USPS arrived several days late and only showed scans at pickup and delivery. That does happen no issue there. However I purchased a second part from the same seller. It too is in a round mailing tube and it's late and only shows a scan at pickup.
Two items a few weeks apart from the same seller having the same issue? The only other thing in common is the round 4 inch diameter mailing tube.

OP2 years agoIt just arrived today. The postal service stuck another bar code label on it turned so the bar code went from end to end. So, that must have been the problem.

·2 years agoHow was the label applied to the tube? My guess would be that the seller applied the label incorrectly (having the barcode bent around the tube instead of applying it so that the barcode went straight along the tube) and so the machines couldn't scan it and the tracking number had to be manually entered into the scanner.

OP2 years agoYes the bar code is curved around the tube on the one I received. However, it's also causing a shipping delay too. Don't care about enroute scans much.

·2 years agoMost likely that's because applying the label the wrong way forces the postal employees to have to manually sort the tubes instead of just letting the scanning machines do their job.

·2 years agoI was having the same problem. Talked to the regional USPS guy and was told that the machines are having issues reading the tracking number. Was told to make sure the track # is long ways and not around the tube. phx, Atl and Denver are all having issues.

OP2 years agoThanks suspected something like that.

·2 years agoWhat size tubes are you using?

OP2 years agoThe first one is 3.5 inches in diameter and 21 inches long. The second one could be shorter but, since it's not arrived yet I can't say.
I'm receiving not sending them.

·2 years agoIf it's a pricey item I'll put it in a tube but then put it in a USPS priority triangle box.

OP2 years agoI'm the buyer so, little I can do about it.
