Return Label Fraud
I’m in the US and purchased an item from China. The item wasn’t as described and I requested a refund. The seller agreed and sent a return shipping label. I took it to the USPS and off it went. About 10 days later I started to get emails from EBay that I need to take the item to the USPS before I refund could be issued. After further research I found out that the USPS Tracking Number is fake and the QR Code on the label has been used multiple times. I got EBay involved who reached out to the seller so the seller sent another shipping label (fake too) to return the item but I no longer have the item to return and I can’t prove that they received the item because I don’t have a valid tracking number. What should I do? The item cost $300 and I now have no item or money!

·8 months agoAlso note that anything you buy outside the US; if the 'return address' is outside the US, that seller cannot purchase a label and would have to send you the money, via paypal (and they will ask for your paypal account name) for YOU to purchase a label. Then you input that tracking number in the 'return case' on ebay. Then it's tracked by you and ebay.

·8 months agoHi @doricakes2015 . I hope you didn't jump to file a credit card chargeback just yet. That should be the very last resort.
In a situation where the seller provides a fraudulent shipping label (in this case 2 fraudulent labels), the process is to involve eBay customer service. The seller is required to provide a valid label, and if they don't you can ask eBay to step in. You might want to send eBay a DM on one of their social sites, or you can go through their help pages for chat/phone support. Explain the seller provided multiple fraudulent return labels. eBay CS should help. Come back if you need more advice.

·8 months agoThere really isn't much more you can do. There is a recommendation to avoid purchasing from China cause stuff like this can happen. Buying and selling online is a risk. You now experienced why.

OP8 months agoI will never purchase from China, again. I thought I was getting a great deal. I will be very leery about any country outside the US.

·8 months agoNearly every hard good you buy is made in China, just sold by an importer/retailer.
