Refunds are biased in the sellers favor
So I’ve sold a few times and had people lie about things they disliked but never have I seen some bull**bleep** on the level of this refund system is an actual scam, My buyer literally said he loved the 200$ he bought it just didn’t fit his hand I was unsure how this new system worked so I tried to work through it I gave a partial refund thinking okay give a little money and they send it back? Nah I literally gave them money and they can keep the 200$ item to resell or whatever it’s just an absolute bull**bleep** system.

If you want the item returned, buyer gets a full refund, after returning the item.
It sounds like your buyer opened a remorse return, but since you send the buyer a partial refund it closed the return. You basically told your buyer, here’s a partial refund you get to keep the item.
You did that, not eBay.
What you should’ve done was issue the return label. ( it’s usually generated and sent to the buyer when you accept the return)
Wait for the buyer to ship the item back to you, once received you inspect it, if the item is not in the same condition as you sent it , then you can issue a partial refund.

·1 year agoIt sounds like they opened a return for a refund and you just sent them some money. Did you accept the return and provide a label? We need some clarity on the chain of events here. The return system usually works just fine when done by the book.

·1 year agoAlthough your title states you believe refunds are biased in the seller's favor, you probably meant to say the buyer's favor.
The problem here is that you may not have read enough about eBay selling to be safely selling here. If/when a buyer claims an item is not as described, he can open an INR case and you are required by eBay rules to send him a prepaid return label and refund in full when you receive the returned item.
If, however, it's a fit issue, you can withhold part of the refund.
When you state you were unsure "how this new system worked", have to ask, what new system?
Did your buyer open an NAD case? Or did he just message you about it and you thought a partial refund would be the end of it?
There is not really anything wrong with the system if you use it correctly.
