questions about standard envelope
What exactly can ship in a standard envelope? I am listing packages of place cards , each package weights 2 oz. and would ft in a standard size envelope.
Would I be able to purchase shipping from EBay?
I sold another small item (address book refill pages ) when I listed it it showed the standard envelope for shipping, but when it sold I could not purchase that label.
It is confusing. Could you explain this.
Thank you, Sandy

·1 month ago · EditedHere is a spreadsheet with all category paths, it is much more than just the 8 basic categories at the top of the page; if your item is not in one of the listed paths in the spreadsheet, you won't be able to use ESE (even if the item/envelope is otherwise ESE legal). https://ir.ebaystatic.com/pictures/aw/pics/sc/pdf/ebay-standard-envelope-eligible-list.xlsx
Before you use ESE for anything, take the time to learn how to use ESE properly, and how letter mail should be prepared and how it is processed. It is absolutely critical your envelopes meet strict requirements for it to get through. Your envelopes MUST be flat, flexible (must bend around a cereal bowl), 3oz or less and under 11 1/2" x 6 1/8" x 0.25" or you will have the same complaints we see here on a regular basis (no scans, envelopes disappearing and showing up 1-2 weeks late etc.) If you have questions or concerns, be sure to ask us here first before using ESE.

There is a link on that page to "see the full list of category paths".

·6 days agoI do not have a Patch, Sticker, or Decal, I have paper advertisements for camping equipment which is in the eligible list. Is there a category for paper vs patches, sticker, decals?

·1 month agoESE is category specific, BUT you will be able to select it even if you have already set your item to an ineligible category. You will not, as you found out, be able to purchase a label if it is in an in eligible category though. Search the help for 'ebay standard envelope' and you should be able to find the full category list.
ESE is letter mail just like a stamp, in order to be eligible your envelope must be flexible enough to bend around an 11" circle AND able to maintain uniform thickness. The place cards look like they aren't flexible enough (at least not enough to survive), the paper should be fine as long as it's envelope is no bigger than 11.5x6x1/4" and under 3oz.
If you can't find an eligible category that's a close fit, the 'everything else' category works in a pinch.

·1 month agoThere is a specific list of categories that are eligible to use the ESE. Someone will be along soon and post a link to the requirements.
