Question about USPS vs UPS, surcharge, and ebay accuracy on shipping calculations

I am listing a pair of golf club trainers.  They're 35" long, the package is 39"x6"x5".  The ebay calculations are

    anasazirose_0-1674672039003.png

$28.35 for USPS and $13.79 for UPS.  I just want to make sure this is correct.  Taking off the $15 surcharge, it sure seems about right.  I'm just not wanting to get stuck with a hidden surcharge from UPS if one exists.  Can anyone offer insight?  TIA!

Pirate Ship seems to not add a surcharge?

Pirateship does not include residential and other surcharges.

They will show you the extended delivery area surcharge before you buy the label which is what I said above.

The surcharge for over 30 inches is now just $7 IF you're using Parcel Select.

    Is the package 8 pounds?

USPS retail priority to zone 1 (your own zip) is $13.15 + $15 nonstandard surcharge for length = $28.35

That rate will go up exponentially the further out the buyer is located.

    ($13.70 zone 2, $14.65 zone 3, $16.15 zone 4, $20.60 zone 5, $27.50 zone 6, $36.45 zone 7, $41.60 zone 8 and add the $15 surcharge to all of those prices)

UPS if you look at dimensional weight it's 8 pounds, so if the package weight is 8 pounds then those match up and there wouldn't be any extra charge for dimensional weight.

You could, however, encounter surcharges for residential delivery, extended delivery area, address correction, etc.

You won't know if something like extended delivery area surcharge will apply until you have the buyer's address, but pirate ship will show you that kind of charge before you buy the label. eBay won't show it to you at all, you'll just get billed for it later when UPS finalizes the fee after shipping.

Also, when I was comparing Pirate Ship to Ebay, I realize I was comparing Ebay retail to PS discount.

eBay UPS is well known for issues.

I would go on to the UPS website and load in the information.

IF you choose UPS you should think about using your own account and not eBays.
