Question about existing listings after Ground Advantage happens
My question is, do I have to go in and change all the items currently listed with one of the absorbed shipping methods once this change takes place?

·3 years agoI wonder what will happen during the transition when USPS makes the change to Ground Advantage and there are plenty of previously pending shipment orders with advertised FC or PSG at the time of purchase, especially ones with longer handling times. I've heard of SNADs coming for not using the advertised shipping service, so that'd be possible here since all of those packages would be shipped out Ground Advantage and not their respective FC or PSG shown in order details.
I would hope ebay would automatically cover us for any of those SNADs and negs.

·3 years agoNo idea. I've just had the thought that based from previous major changes and ebay adjustments this implementation will become a poop show once it goes live. So I've been mentally preparing myself for that time and just welcome the chaos.
Don't even mention if ebay postage labels will even have those new services added to their options. Do they even have Priority Mail Cubic yet? What about Parcel Select Cubic?

·3 years agoThe most recent comparable change was the demise of the Priority Mail Regional boxes. That apparently went smoothly; I don't recall any posts at all about problems with it. The upcoming change is just the merger of existing services, with a new name. So there's reason to hope that the transition will be smooth.

·3 years agoBut that was somewhat related to sellers migrating to Priority Mail Cubic as somewhat of a replacement. And I recall ebay CS stated that the cubic service would be available by the time Regional went away, but that was not the case. I've stopped checking as I moved some of my labels to Pirateship which does support Cubic rates. But does ebay labels support Priority Mail Cubic right now? I actually don't know.

·3 years agoC'mon, you know that CS make things up all the time. No, eBay doesn't offer postage labels for cubic pricing.

·3 years agoThere was never anything formal other than eBay saying they were working on it as an option, but they never promised they'd follow through with implementation and there was definitely no timeline given like "by the time Regional went away."

·3 years agoI also completely expect issues because of the new businesses policies for shipping. I figure those of us using that are going to have a bigger mess when the change occurs..

·3 years agoBiz policies aren't new. The only reason a biz policy user might see an issue is if, as mentioned above, they offer both FC and Parcel (or Retail Ground) in the same policy.

·3 years agoI guess I should have Clarified that sellers being suddenly kind of thrown into as new. This isn't suppose to be happening but many sellers are suddenly in business policies.

·3 years agoNot 100%. There were issues for sellers that offered both calculated Priority and calculated Regional Rate in the same listing ( https://community.ebay.com/t5/Shipping/Something-to-look-out-for-if-you-offered-regional-rate-shipping/m-p/33557795 ).
Unfortunately, looking at one of the listings mentioned in that thread, the shipping team hasn't fixed the problem in the last 3 months. https://www.ebay.com/itm/165503791859
I've seen a lot of listings lately that have both calculated First Class and Parcel Select as options on the same listing. Not confident eBay will handle that smoothly based on what happened with RR. Kinda wishing I'd bookmarked a couple of those sellers so I could check what happens after the change.
Tagging @elizabeth@ebay since she escalated the RR issue and also @kyle@ebay since he handles a lot of stuff on the shipping board. Hey guys, can you run past the shipping team a refresher of that Regional Rate issue we had in the thread linked above, and make sure it will be a smooth transition to Ground Advantage when sellers have both First Class and Parcel Select (or Retail Ground) on the same listing or on the same business policy? And also ask them what the status is of fixing the regional rate issue?

Good morning @wastingtime101. We'll be happy to reach out to them and see if we can get an update. We'll touch base with what we hear.

·3 years agoI guess I overlooked that thread about problems with RR. That listing offers regular calculated Priority Mail for a 2-pound package, which was always cheaper than the Regional A box. I don't know where that listing is getting the Regional prices, but they're still showing as higher than regular Priority. So in practice that glitchy listing won't lead to issues, since what buyer would choose the Regional box when it costs more?
It makes no sense for a seller to offer both First Class package and Parcel Select Ground, since Parcel Select always costs more than First Class package. If eBay doesn't update their shipping program, then those listings will probably show the 1-pound rate for the second option, and again no buyer will choose the higher-priced option, so in practice there won't be a problem.

·3 years agoThat's because your mind is defaulting to single item purchases. 😉
Makes sense when seller has buyers purchasing multiples either from same listing or across different listings with combined ship rules set up.
