Puerto rico insufficient address
Summary: midwestpremiumsupply sold an item to a buyer in Puerto Rico that was returned due to an 'insufficient address' issue, despite being over-packaged and having a signature requirement. The buyer claimed that the local post office had no record of the item, although tracking shows the return. midwestpremiumsupply is frustrated about possibly losing $50+ on shipping costs, and considers refunding minus shipping if the item returns, especially since the buyer has positive feedback. bdmh-enterprises suggests there might be a missing detail in the address and advises potentially blocking the buyer if attempting to reship. Additionally, midwestpremiumsupply expresses further frustration with eBay labeling the item as counterfeit, despite submitting a receipt, and considers filing a chargeback with the company they purchased it from.
So i sold an item to someone in puerto rico, it took a little over 2 weeks to get there and then it was out gir delivery at 8am, but at 6:40pm it said "insufficient address" and "return to sender", that was sept 5th, no updates since. Buyer messaged me yesterday with a screenshot of the tracking wondering whats going on.
Has anyone had this happen to them?
How could it make it all the way to Puerto Rico and even go out from the local post office if the address was bad? I wrapped the entire box in like 3 or 4 layers of good packing tape, and then another layer on top of the shipping label, so i have a hard time believing it was damaged, but even then it shouldnt say insufficient address and returned to sender
The buyer said he went to his local post office, and they said nothing comes up and they have no record of it...which is weird because the tracking pulls up on my end, and they sent me a screenshot of it , maybe its s language barrier idk.
I had signature required on it. If this happened because of the buyer not putting in address correctly, do I refund minus the cost of shipping when/if i get it back? They have 33 feedback as a buyer so i wouldnt think thats the issue. So frustrating to piss away $50+ on shipping.

·1 month agoProbably missing an apt # or the like. USPS only verifies that the street number exists. Returns move slowly, expect it to take more than 2 weeks to get back to you.
When you get it back you can refund any amount you want. Personally on a higher priced item I'd refund minus shipping and a hefty "annoyance" fee (based on my mood at the time). Under $20 probably wouldn't refund at all. I'd also block the buyer as my experience has been attempting to reship will result in another RTS.

OP1 month ago · EditedIt was to a "rural route box" (i assume thats like a PO box?) but it had the number. He has bought like 33 item in the last 12 months and gotten positive feedback from the sellers? I assume id get the final value fee back from ebay at least thats like $95? I spent like $40 promoting it though, it was a $700 sale grrr.....
i just bought it (outside ebay) and had something come up in my life before it even arrived, so i was selling it at a loss, because i dont think that it is right that a buyer can just change their mind or for whatever reason wants to return something, and the seller has to take it back and eat the cost of shipping something you.. So heres the kicker, ebay deleted the listing saying it was a counterfeit item, the accuser is the COMPANY I BOUGHT IT FROM, i appealed and uploaded my receipt for it, and they DENIED changing their ruling. Maybe ill file a chargeback from the company i bought it from since according to them, it is counterfeit?...
