You can set up rate tables for your shipping policy/ policies ( see shipping preferences or business policies > shipping policies) and add a surcharge to these locations.
I can say this, I only ship lighter weight items to those locations.
Too expensive to ship heavy items even if the buyer pays shipping. If buyer files INAD, I would be on the hook for shipping both ways. Too much risk.
I have larger/ heavier items in a business shipping policy that only uses UPS and those 3 destinations are excluded from buying from those listings, though at last check, PR could purchase thru EIS and that would be OK by me.
@superiorfiltersusa I would not ship a 40lb package to HI or Alaska. Not worth it should you get a return unless you have really good margins and can absorb that cost. If you are going to freak out having to pay $100+ in return charges, do yourself a favor and continue to exclude those locations.
I'm on the east coast and don't get very many HI/AK orders anyway, but I did just exclude them from any lightweight orders. There are other sellers who get ship to them cheaper than I can, and I'm happy to yield that business to them.
