POST OFFICE Shipping Delay - Seller Responsible?
I shipped an $18 item from Midwest to East Coast. Item spent 10 days getting from KC to Jersey City, now is languishing for 6 days in Jersey City. Boston Buyer wants a refund. I told buyer I have no control over Post Office. According to Ebay policy, looks like I have to provide refund or get defect. Ebay is making me (seller) responsible for PO delay.
So is there any way to get back the original purchase price when the item arrives in Boston a few days from now?
Called Ebay twice today. two different numbers. Both times I got an email message saying they tried to call me, but there was no answer. Neither time did a phone ring.

·1 year agoLet's say i order a piece of flat stock aluminum. So the ebay seller has a dead line to meet and the dates are from August 14 to the 16. So I order the aluminum on August 10 a Sunday. So on my orders that is the one to ship first on Monday. So three days later comes theres a shipping label created on Monday. I get ahold of the seller on Wednesday and tell him usps is still waitng on ithem. I called his post office. To deal with a liar is dealing with a piece of garbage. I need it for a job and he new it. So I told him on Thursday you never shipped it making it here on Saturday is impossible. I then told him now I got to drive 50 miles one way to get a piece of aluminum. Thats 100 miles I lose over 2 hours of work time. I wanted this piece of garbage kicked off ebay. So his dead line came on the 16 nothing shipped same thing waiting on shipper a label was created. So ebay im done with them. I was a huge buyer and my 100% is not made up feedback. So to really **bleep** me off he sent it out two days afther the dead line. So your dam right I waited for the postman and got him in the van and told him to send it back. I love the way a seller can have 100% feed back and not show sales for 6 months. The dead beat sellers need to stop saying the buyers have all the rights. They stick up for the seller. So if you got tracking information and then its lost the seller is not to blame its the post office. So we can print shipping labels all day. So when we decide to bring it to the post office the seller should have a 14 to 18 delivery time. The problem he did not have that aluminum so he new it was for my job. He's a dirt bag and any bad feedback gets erased. Ebay became garbage the good buyers are all getting done.

·5 years ago#1- Your buyer will have to open an INR case. Once they do that all you need to do is upload the tracking number. The rest will be handled by eBay but it gives you more time. Hopefully during those extra days your item will be delivered and the case will close in your behalf. Go up to Seller News just above on this page and read the notice just put out by eBay which explains all this in more detail.
#2- Should the time run out and if your buyer does get a refund, you will only be able to ask the buyer to return the item by writing return to sender or if they are willing to pay you a second time. For this reason you should reach out kindly to your buyer and try to establish some rapport with them. Hopefully they will be reasonable but you should apologize and sympathize with them that they haven't received their item. Write as if you are shocked at the delays and just as upset as they are. Don't direct any anger at eBay or USPS, just at the situation itself.
Best of luck to you....

A buyer can only open an “item not received” request after the estimated delivery date plus 1 day. When a request is opened the seller has 3 business days to respond before the buyer can ask eBay to step in.
If tracking on the item shows movement within the past 10 calendar days and the parcel is in the destination country, we’ll keep the request open for 10 more days from the time the buyer asked eBay to step in to allow additional time for the item to be delivered. After that time, if there is no updated activity, eBay will consider the item lost and we’ll ask the seller to refund the buyer.

·1 year agoActually eBay recently did (2) 10 days extensions for me. So extra 20 days for item to arrive to buyer, which it did.
