Package misrouted out-of-state
Bought an item shipped from Vallejo CA to San Leandro CA.
It was supposed to be delivered 2 days ago.
I checked the tracking and it's now in Jersey City NJ?
The seller doesn't seem bothered to help.
Also, the listing said shipping would be Priority Mail but the USPS site states that Ground Shipping was used instead.

·4 months agoGo to the PO you use and request a internal tracking scan print out ,this has more details then USPS .com and ebay can see on their side . the internal tracking scan document will help you when you file the INR case .

OP4 months agoI'm not even seeing an option to open a case. Does it show after May 20th?
Never had an address or even been to NJ.

·4 months agoI'm thinking that the seller had another buyer in NJ, but uploaded that tracking number to you instead of to the guy in NJ. I would not expect to see that Delivered scan unless it was actually delivered to an address there (and you don't need to wait until Thursday to see it getting turned around, if that's what's happened).
If you feel like it, you could take that tracking number to your local PO and ask them to check their in-house intranet system to see what the delivery address was on the package: yours, or the guy in New Jersey. I'm thinking they will tell you that it's the latter.
I maintain at this point that you may well have your package inbound to you; you just have no means of tracking it because the seller goofed up and uploaded the wrong number. If you set up an Informed Delivery account at USPS.com (free), you can get inbound notifications without needing the sender to provide you with the tracking number.

·4 months agoSince it doesn't have an 'out for delivery' scan it's likely it was miss-scanned before leaving Penn Grove. It happens, sometimes entire trucks get prematurely marked delivered. Anytime it happens there's no resetting it.
You can call or go to any PO with that tracking number and they can see in the back end system if it's still moving and where. Tell them it was miss-scanned.
Yes, you'll have to wait until tomorrow to file a claim and probably not until midnight. But if the seller is being honest then you should give it a few days for USPS to get it back to you.

·4 months agoThe whys and hows are pretty much the seller's problem at this point. You can file a 'did not receive' claim and will win since it wasn't delivered to your zip code. The seller will have to deal with USPS over the insurance.

Either the seller manually typed in the tracking number which they accidently typed in the wrong one or it's a tracking scam. Contact the seller first and tell them about this issue. If they do not respond you will first need to file a case with Ebay. Ebay determines the package as delivered and closes the case then file a chargeback with your payment source.

·4 months agoNot a 'scam' if delivered to a DIFFERENT zip code than where it was supposed to go.
Could be a 'would be scammer' that doesn't even know how to do it.
File a 'Not Received' return case if you didn't used to live in that zip and forgot to change your address on ebay.

·4 months ago@napcenter : The seller uploaded the wrong tracking number to your purchase. That may or may not be your package going out that way, but you can certainly file the Item Not Received claim as soon as the last Estimated Date of Delivery has passed.
As noted already, it's not a tracking scam because the package did not go to an address within your own City and ZIP Code.
Given that the tracking number you received was wrong, that does not necessarily mean that your package might not show up anyway. If you have a free account on USPS.com, you will get alerts about inbound packages heading for your address, even if you're not expecting anything and don't know the tracking number. USPS sends the alert to you if your address matches that of the package.

·4 months agoThe USPS missent your package to New Jersey so all you as a buyer can do is just wait. The seller really can't be much of a help because this is a carrier issue not a seller issue as far as being missent. If the seller were to call into USPS about this issue they will just repeat what you already know as a buyer. However you paid for Priority Mail and received Ground Advantage so that can be an issue for the seller depending on what action you want to take. I would advise to just wait it out until USPS gets it back to the west coast and delivered to you.

·4 months agoIt has been happening lately to me.
Shipped from San Francisco to Texas and my priority went to Hawaii for a vacation first but did get mailed finally in Texas.
I had another suppose to go to Tennessee from San Francisco but went from Memphis to Charlotte North Carolina but did go back to Tennessee and got delivered.
I wouldn't worry much since packages are eventually getting delivered.
Key is do not contact buyers as to opening up a 'can of worms'.
