Package marked as delivered but it was never physically received
This is my first time posting here but I am at a loss and think this would be my last time after twelve years shopping on eBay but just felt like I needed an outlet to pour into before I throw in the towel so to speak. I had two items since during this issued ordered and waiting for it to arrive to give feedback to those sellers and then I'll close the account. I apologize for the really long post in advance I am so frustrated, upset and disheartened by the situation and how robotic the customer service system is. I just do not care anymore. It is sad because there are really great sellers with great products that I enjoyed supporting and it took one seller and eBay don't care attitude to wash it down the drain.
I ordered a phone from a seller and at first all seemed well. Seller sent the phone via USPS and in a few days it was marked as delivered. The address used is to a company that usually handles all my international packages and then shipped directly to me outside from America. I have been with them for years ordered many games, consoles, gaming laptops and a few phones and other miscellaneous items during those years and never had any issues of them not being received.
So, I noticed that a few days went by and I heard nothing about this package actually arriving at the facility. I messaged the owner and he responded in a timely manner indicating that this package never was delivered physically to them. I found it strange because I had ordered another phone from a different seller on eBay for my mom and hers arrived by USPS and at the facility just fine just one week apart. I grew concerned and contacted the seller about the package, he responded to say he will assist then after two days he said he emailed USPS and waiting for their response and then after another two days says he's still waiting. I expressed to him that the shipping co didn't receive it physically and to please let USPS know to provide the GPS data. Since then he didn't respond only just that things slowed down for Thanksgiving and will share something when he can. I told him that I was out of pocket with money and no phone and then he writes back to compare his bigger loss of expenses.
Since then I did not hear back from the seller after a few days, and so I contacted USPS through the email method since I am outside from America and can't visit one directly and wasn't getting through on the phone. In just one day I had received a response from a CSR that the package was mishandled and unsuccessful in recovery. I opened a case with eBay they then indicated that the seller needed to respond. Apparently he "updated" the tracking info using the same information and then eBay stated to wait a few days (after it's three weeks later I have been waiting with the back and forth between the seller and myself) to close the request should I get the package.
I contacted eBay live chat for assistance, one agent said if the seller didn't respond in 3 days after the conversation with her I would have gotten the refund automatically. I waited for 4 days and nothing happened. Contacted live chat again and gotten another agent and as soon as I explained the situation he closed the case and said a specialist would get back to me. That sounded odd so I asked if the case is closed why will a specialist contact me? He said that I was welcomed to make an appeal and sent links for me to upload my evidence. I uploaded all the conversations between me and the seller and the USPS document where the CSR claimed the package been mishandled. But despite everything my appeal also got shut down almost instantly. The "specialist" claiming he's also a buyer knows how difficult it is to lose money in these times and recommend I take advantage of the shipping coverage for the item.
How would this be possible when they were the ones to inform me it was never received so obviously they will not pay for something they will not take responsibility for in the first place. I responded to that person and then another person answered with a very similar remark to which I just lost my cool and bluntly said that after this I'm done attached with my frustration bits added.
It's a pity so many sellers shop with USPS and I know they are much cheaper than FedEx and UPS but for expensive items like a phone I think the option of having signatures being done for delivery should become mandatory to ensure that no scam or incident can be done by either seller or carrier or shipping co as it can be something more solid having a name with signature to fall back on than just reading delivered to agent for final delivery.
Thanks for reading if you made it to the end.

·2 years agoCrystal Ball, reply to that USPS email
-- to confirm with USPS that the address on the label
-- is the address of your freight forwarder, and not some other address.
Ask for the weight and dimensions of that package, to check if appropriate for a phone.
Then leave a private message for PayPal at Facebook, otherwise your card issuer however you paid @cruxiscrystal1 with any proof that this was a fake delivery -- borrowing a tracking number for some other address near your forwarder -- to get your refund.

OP2 years agoI did reply to the same email sent from USPS CSR that same day but never got a response but yet they are continuously sending surveys that I keep ignoring for me to do. I will try at the bank for a charge back since Paypal wasn't involved with the transaction. My hopes are very slim though some systems and their policies are just too ridgid and just nonsensical.

·2 years agoUnless @cruxiscrystal1 you have any of
1. the tracking number began moving days before you placed the order
2. an official USPS statement, no need to reveal the delivery address for privacy, that it was not your address
3. the weight, e.g. the package weighs 60 pounds, not appropriate for your phone
4. the dimensions, e.g. 4 feet long, not appropriate for your phone
a chargeback at the bank will likely fail.

OP2 years agoOne main requirement I was told by the bank that I needed to do the charge back was having the merchant banking information where the funds were paid too. Unfortunately for me I do not have access to that information. So hundreds of dollars gone just like that. If USPS had just responded to me this would have been an open and shut case but it's one of the challenges faced when purchasing items from abroad. I would have taken this to smalls claim court if I lived in America.

You opt yourself out of the MBG every time you ship an ebay package there.

·2 years agoOP is protected for INRs if package is not delivered to the forwarder. It's after it arrives at the forwarder and is reshipped that MBG is void.
