No Refund on Shipping Label
Sold an item recently. Purchased a USPS label via my eBay funds. Took the box to the post office only to be told that I purchased the, wrong label for the size and weight of my package. The label WAS NOT scanned by USPS. I took the box to my local Fedex store and purchased a second label and the box was shipped and delivered to the buyer. The new Fedex tracking number was posted on the item listing page. I thought by now eBay would have refunded the cost of the first shipping label - but not so far (its been a couple of weeks now). I cannot figure out how to reach a live person from eBay's Customer Service Team to resolve this. Any constructive comments would be appreciated. Thanks,

OP9 months agoJust to close the loop on this one. I just received notification from eBay that a refund (payout) for the unused USPS shipping label was just sent to my bank account. I learned a lot from this experience and for all of those who helped me here. Thanks! Â

·8 months agoHow long did it end up taking for you to see the refund? I am currently in the same waiting period now for similar reasons.Â

·8 months ago@treasurefinds123 it takes approx. 3 weeks for USPS to refund ebay which then refunds you.Â

OP8 months agoI don’t exactly remember how long it took to receive a refund for the unused shipping label, but maybe 7-10 days?  Also, someone mentioned that I have to check with my bank account or credit card account to see if the refund came in as eBay will not notify with regard to the refund.  But this is not exactly correct - at least in my case.  When my refund was done, I did receive a notice from eBay. ·8 months agoOoooh did eBay finally change it? Can you please post a screenshot or copy/paste what it said @stevestrac ? Screenshot would be best if you can - and black out anything personal. 🙂

·9 months agoYou never need a reason to cancel a shipping label, USPS just wants to make sure the label was never used before processing the refund. Btw, when it is refunded you will never get a message saying so, it just appears as a credit back to your account or payment source.

If you pay for shipping with a credit card, you'll have more control.

OP9 months agoThanks for all of your help. I was able to request a cancellation of the shipping label (I am within the 28 day period). I could not find the area where I could explain the reason for cancellation. I hope USPS and eBay will accept my cancellation. I don't think there is anyway for me to follow up with eBay so just keeping fingers crossed.

·9 months agoCanceling a shipping label
You have 28 days to cancel an unused USPS, FedEx, or UPS label purchased on eBay. It can take up to 21 days for the carrier to approve or reject the refund. If approved, funds will be credited to your original funding source.
eBay standard envelope labels can't be canceled once they have been printed. For more details, please see the eBay standard envelope terms and conditions. - opens in new window or tab
Here's how to cancel a shipping label you printed on eBay:
If your QR code has been scanned at a participating drop-off point to print your shipping label, the label is considered used and can't be canceled.
Tip
If you intend to ship the order related to the canceled tracking number, you'll need to add the new/correct tracking number to the order as an additional tracking number
Â
If it has been more than 28 days since you purchased the label, you cannot cancel it.
Â
If you have succeeded in cancelling the label, the refund when it occurs will be visible on Payments>All Transactions.

To cancel a shipping label purchased through eBay, go to this page, find the order and select Cancel from the Actions drop-down. The cancel option is available for 28 days.
Â
It takes between 2-4 weeks to receive a refund on an unused, voided label as the carrier wants to make sure the label isn't used. You'll see the refund on your original source of payment (eBay funds, bank, credit card, etc) and the funds will appear in your account without an email notification.

Edit to add: Most issues can be solved easily without calling customer service. If you go to the eBay help page and type 'cancel label' in the search box, the very first search result includes clear instructions on how to cancel that label. Here's the page for reference - hope it helps.

OP9 months agoThank you. I clicked on the "this page" link you provided. The only label showing is the Fedex label that was used to ship my item. It does not show the first USPS label that I purchased but never used. It is the USPS unused label that I wish to cancel, but can't seem to find it on the page link you sent. Needless to say, this is a frustrating process. Steve

·9 months agoIf you purchased the label through eBay it would have to be on that page. Check the filter on the top right and make sure you're not looking at a short time period - set it to 90 days.

·9 months agoEbay does NOT automatically refund anything. Especially 'shipping labels'.Â
YOU have to manually find the label and void it. Then you'll get your $$ from USPS (not ebay) 3-4 weeks later.Â

OP9 months agoThank you. If you know, please advise how I can void that USPS shipping label. Best regards, Steve

·9 months ago@stevestrac you can do it easily by clicking the link @wastingtime101 gave you in post #2, but you'll never really learn that way.
Â
Find order in your 'seller hub'Â
Left side, hover and dropdown shows 'print another label'
Page then shows at top, 'you already printed a label- click 'manage labels' and follow prompts to 'void'
