new USPS postage rates on 1-18-26
Here’s what USPS is changing on January 18th:
- Ground Advantage: Rates for shipments up to 15.9 oz will go up by 4% on average, while most shipments between 10-20 lb will actually get up to 26% cheaper 🥳
- Priority Mail: Most Priority Mail rates are increasing by up to 13%, except for 11-20 lb which is actually getting up to 8% cheaper.
- Priority Mail Flat Rate: Most Flat Rate packages are getting cheaper by 10 to 20 cents, except Medium and Large Flat Rate Boxes which are getting 15 and 30 cent increases.
- Priority Mail Express: Priority Mail Express rates are increasing by an average of 2%, except for PME Flat Rate Envelopes which are dropping 10-15 cents.
- USPS International: International shipping rates are increasing 4-8% on average.
- Simple Export Rate: SER rates are going up by $1-2, but it remains the cheapest way to ship internationally 🌎

·8 months agoI just printed a label this evening to ship on Monday. I reckon the USPS price is going to be over $7 for this one come tomorrow. UPS Ground was the winner here for a day quicker delivery to a business buyer.
21x8x4 at 2 lbs. going from DFW to St. Louis
No matter how we slice it, postage here in the USA might still be one of the best deals on the planet.

·8 months agoAnother rate increase in July, USPS put in the rate request this week for July. At least start the new rate Sunday before bending us over for the next one.

·8 months agoThey are really sticking it to small packages, which is what the majority of us probably use the most. Another in July ( I heard another in April actually but maybe not this year?), then probably October, and then holiday hikes and the cycle keeps continuing. Pretty soon a 4 oz envelope is going to be nearing 15 bucks for some zips. That's just an example, maybe a little dramatic but not by much. And international?,,,forget it,,,they are doing everything they can to stop people from shipping and mailing I think. Its terrible business.
To add to this, any order that comes in say Friday and Saturday before the rate change, the buyer is paying the current rate, But go to buy a label for Tuesday shipping (since Mon is a holiday) you have to pay the difference. I posted this problem in one of the other threads, and its an issue ebay has never addressed. Were just expected to get burned and pay out of pocket for the difference, which isn't small anymore, it's not right.

·8 months agoWhen I went to print labels this morning, I was able to click on Tuesday, rates went up $.32 to .61 for under 8 oz, but 12-15 oz only went up a dime. I ate the seasonal increase but can't eat this one, but if raise shipping, sales will tank like the did back in July 25'
The article I read was off an eCommerce site, they said July but USPS hadn't post the amount requested.

·9 months agoI suppose USPS is trying to garner some of the 11-20 lb. shipments from UPS and FedEx? Does not make sense to me with so many of the small USPS vehicles still out there.
USPS is back in bed with UPS Ground Saver starting January 1st and once again handling the last mile on a lot of those shipments. We have already received a couple of those here at the house and I shipped a UPS Ground Saver that had USPS Parcel Select at the bottom of the label.
NOTE: Remember that UPS Ground Saver still always gets mailed from a UPS location.

·9 months agoI don't use UPS ground saver anymore, it's not insured if dropped off at USPS for the last mile. UPS drops it off at USPS and if damaged, they blame the other one, neither will allow you to file a claim.
Plus I sell fishing rods, back in early Dec., ground saver almost doubled, it's cheaper to ship regular ground
