New shipping charge method in listing an item; why does it say "calculate" in preview?
So, within the past two weeks, ebay has unnecessarily added the ability to include "handling" charges in our listings. When I add my whopping $1.00 handling fee, the preview screen shows "Shipping: Calculate." Why calculate when I've already input (inputted?) the shipping and the handling fees. Can't ebay add? Anyway my question is, does anyone know if this "Calculate" is replaced by a real number if and when I click "List"?

·2 years agoThe ability to include a handling charge to your shipping has been available for 25 years.
When you see Calculate it means you are using calculated shipping instead of flat rate, the correct amount will show in your listing once the buyers zip code is known.

·2 years agoPerhaps it has been coded to switch to "calculate" when you add a "handling charge" to a "flat rate" shipping charge. Does not seem that "handling" would need to be added to a "flat rate". Seems a redundant action to do so.

OP2 years agoI appreciate your quick reply. Unfortunately, it won't let me change the flat rate (in gray) to include handling. It simply picks it up automatically from the weight of the item and assumes if we want to add a charge, we'd put it under "handling." I even tried changing my mail service and then going back again to reset it, and nope, it won't let me change the price that it has chosen. I could manually go up a pound, but then it is an odd price or more than I want to charge. Aargh...

·2 years agoI know you said you worked it out, but for anyone else, you can ONLY add a handling charge to a listing with a calculated shipping. You cannot add a handling charge to flat rate as the system assumes you would have already added that to your flat rate price.

·2 years agoIn your screenshot it clearly shows you are using Calculated Shipping, sounds like you want to use Flat Rate so you will need to make the change.
