New policy of disregarding what sellers post as weight/size for shipping?
Every time an item comes up for relist, eBay seems to "estimate" the weight and size of container. I've posted what I've determined! Why do I have to correct this EVERY TIME I RELIST? I hate it!!!!

·1 year agoAlso, if you list items from someone else's listing by "sell similar" I think auto fill might be the default, so pay extra attention to that. Could be wrong, but I do pay extra attention to all the details if listing from a "sell similar" that might be different from what I want in the lisitng

·1 year ago@ryry-jj - that’s an interesting suggestion. I don’t do much sell similar from other folks’ listings so I don’t know if it’s what happens. But it could explain a lot of what people are questioning here on various listing topics - saying that they never selected that option or that eBay forced it on them.

OP1 year agoNone of that--it's the Shipping information that gets changed "automatically" when your back is turned. When you relist an item, at least when you use USPS Ground Advantage, you need to check your shipping data. For one thing, eBay now "estimates" your weight and package size. I've had half-pound items where they've changed the weight to 3 pounds, also with similar changes to the box size I will actually use--and the resulting changes in the shipping prices. Plus, instead of showing the range of shipping costs by package dimension and distance between my post office and the buyers, they show the highest price in the range unless you go in and change it to calculated price. I find this a royal pain, especially when I just corrected the info when I relisted the week before. There was a post in the shipping thread from someone who didn't know to beware and the shipping price went up to more than $100. Oh, yes, and sometimes Priority Mail gets selected for you. You have to read the things you took for granted before!
