·10 months agoWhen I was running my website and shipping art, I often acquired a bicycle box from a nearby bike shop to ship large paintings.
When I was buying art from artists for my collection, it was almost always crated by the artist with a crate made of 2 x 4s with plywood sides, safer and more effective in protecting the work. I still have one in my garage which was last used when we moved. It fits a portrait painted of my wife by an artist friend who is among the departed.
The price level of the art should affect how much you invest in packaging to avoid losses. Other sources of value may also matter.

·10 months agoU-Line sells a variety of single and double wall cardboard "deluxe artwork shippers".
They are lined with puncture resistant plastic and have high density foam inserts.
They are available in a range of sizes with a specified max interior dimension.
They are about as safe as you can possibly find for shipping IMHO.
They are not cheap, plus there is the shipping to your locale which is prohibitive for "onesies."
It is, however, the best protection you will find.
Best of luck with shop and sales.

·10 months agoFor something like this I would get a large appliance box and resize it to fit what I need.
With a tape measure, utility knife, straight edge and sewing tracing wheel to score for bends you can make any box you need.

·10 months agoIt's going to cost a fortune to pack and ship that item.
Also, the chances it will get damaged is very high.
I hope you thought about that.
Good luck.

UPS may have just the right size -- and they'll even pack your item carefully and ship it, as well.
And you also might find that size container at some art supplies centers, as well.
