need affordable shipping boxes for vintage tall & heavy table lamps (have 2 pairs)
Summary: hubbyandwifey is seeking advice on finding affordable shipping boxes for two pairs of vintage table lamps, with the need to keep costs under $30 per box. Suggestions from others include visiting furniture stores, purchasing boxes from packaging stores, or combining available boxes by patching them together. Some specific recommendations include using a 24x12x12 box and ensuring sufficient padding for protection. It's also suggested to check stores like Home Depot, Lowes, Office Max, or Staples for suitable box sizes.
Please help! I'm having a lot of trouble finding affordable shipping boxes for 2 pairs of vintage table lamps (each pair sold separately). I can't find boxes that are the right size for less than $30 (which I can 't do). Does anyone have a suggestion on where to find boxes like this? I don't want a bunch of boxes ~ maybe 4.
Both lamps are tall & somewhat heavy.
*One pair is 32 inches tall with harp, 21 inches tall without harp, 7 inches diameter of base & approx. 10 pounds (total).
*The other pair is similar ~ 31 inches tall with harp, 23.5 inches tall without harp, 6.5 inches diameter of base & approx. 10 pounds (total).
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

OP1 month agoI'm somewhat disabled & have been checking boxes online instead of going to physical stores. But thank you everyone for your suggestions! Now I can go out to look & narrow down which stores to go to. You've been so helpful.

·1 month agoThe advice to put 2 boxes together is one of the best pieced of info. And it is pretty easy to accomplish
For the first lamp, 24x12x12 boxes should be readily available at any packaging store (UPS, We Ship, etc) The 12x12 dimension allows for lots of padding.
Same applies to the 2nd lamp. 4 of those boxes will probably run about a total of $20 from those sources.

·1 month agoIn a pinch, you can patch boxes together if there's nothing tall enough; just make sure you're padding the lamps in there (maybe even double boxing them), and you tape the join REALLY well. I highly recommend getting a perforator for this exact purpose; then you can resize your boxes any time you want!
Shed Flips has an example of how to box a delicate, kind of tall item here:
