My mail lady is flat out refusing to scan my packages at pick-up.
I had to file a complaint against her for not picking up at all(she actually took my packages out of the box, put incoming mail in and left them my outgoing next to the mailbox, 3 times) then she started being trifling and not doing the pick up scan. I went to the main post office the sup said that even if she doesn't do the pick up scan they are still scanned when they get to Richmond. This is making my shipping to appear off and I have lost my top rated status. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do?

·3 years agoI don't get the worry. I've been shipping may years without having packages scanned on intake, its never been a problem. Packages still get scanned en route, it may take a couples day but no buyer nor ebay has ever complained. If I have an expensive item, I'll be sure sure to leave it in a secure post office bin (rather than sitting on a counter) or even walk up to counter with a worker and have it scanned, a rare occurance. My local regional post office has a kiosk where you can scan packages for intake, and I see other eBayers scanning their packages, but I asked a postal worker, and he was dismissive, saying it still has to be scanned in their system. In short, why worry?

Rural carriers get paid 18 seconds of pay time for each scan.

·3 years agoWhen we lived in the country our rural carriers were great.
They would pick up letters, packages and you could buy stamps from them, then we moved in to town and that all changed.
If they miss-deliver a letter, they won't even pick it up the next day, you have to take it to the PO.

·3 years agoGo back to the post office and speak with the supervisor. If that does not work, speak with this supervisor's supervisor. Now you have the problem that the carrier can deliberately toss out a box in the trash. If you can drive the packages to the post office, do so. Otherwise, meet the lady outside one of these days and offer her a nice apple pie or cake and ask her to please take the packages because you aren't feeling well or your car is old (or whatever.)
Sometimes , this may work. Also does she do this to your neighbors. Find out. If yes, this carrier needs to be re-trained or fired.

·3 years agoIt seems to me that the post office has a site where you request a carrier pick up. I've used it a couple of times when my car was in the shop and it worked just fine. You might want to look into that.
Then buttonhole the postmaster if it happens again.

OP3 years agoi will be doing that, the option is right here on the shipping label. I just have to request it the night before. I guess that I just got used to my old carrier, he was fantastic. Great suggestion. Thanks!

Here, they won't pick up packages if you just leave them in your mail box.

·3 years agoWe went to the Post office and made our house an official pic up station. We are not shipping as regular these day. So we have a laminated sign we put in our mail box stating today we have pick ups. Then they come to our door where we have a mail tote ready for them with our shipment. A couple of times they missed a scan. We give out gift cards at Christmas to show our appreciation for cooperation..
