Who is responsible for a stolen item? the shipper or the delivery co.?my small business is closed on the weekends and is plainly indicated on my front door in big letters.Over the weekend a delivery co. left a pkg outside the front door in a busy parking lot over the weekend in plain sight and of course the pkg was gone Monday when I came in.What's my next step as the item was quite expensive.ty

·1 month agoYour best chance of being reimbursed is if you file a dispute with your credit card issuer.
It the item is over $750 the seller was required to purchase signature confirmation. If they did not, or the carrier did not obtain a signature, Ebay will rule in your favor on an item not received MBG claim.

·1 month agowhen I purchase something on ebay I generally follow the tracking. When it gets to the point that it is "out for delivery" I make sure there is someone there to receive it. Even if it is inconvenient.

OP1 month agoThx,that's a good idea although I'm getting to the point where I'm done w/ebay.Seems to be more headaches than it's worth.

·1 month agoOnce it's delivered, risk of loss transfers to you. The seller and shipper only have to deliver it, not guard it. So if its' stolen , rained on or trampled flat by yaks it's your problem.

OP1 month agoEven though it plainly stated on the front door closed weekends?it just doesn't seem right that they would leave the pkg at all, they should have just given it to whoever happened to walk or drive by ,it's basically the same thing:) thx.

·1 month agoAccording to ebay, the buyer is responsible once the package is marked as delivered.
You could file an INR but you will lose; the seller will upload the tracking number, showing that they and the delivery co. did their jobs. This is why many businesses invest in cameras for their front doors; it covers you during after hours and can be taken to the police.
In the future, USPS is great because they'll put the package in your mailbox, while other delivery companies aren't authorized to do that.
