Long Boxes (8x8x72"): Where to scrounge?
Have to ship a folded up TV antenna.
The OE box is 5x8x62.
It's only a $45 item so it doesn't warrant building a box.

·9 months agoIn the past, when I needed a large carton, I would cut down a bicycle box to make a custom sized box.
Local bicycle shops were always willing to have me take some.

·9 months agoMattress store, cut down to size. Furniture store maybe? Just go to one and ask first nicely if they have something...if you put the antenna into a plastic bag, you could even use spray foam to fill in the air space and shape.
Is selling this antenna worth the effort and costs?

·9 months agoThe shipping is going to be dimensional and far exceed the cost of the antenna...it will bill at about 33 lbs plus an oversize fee. If you are off on dimensions by an inch, the billable weight will rise to about 42 lb.
Also note if you find a box, say 10 x 10 x 78 you may be looking at 51# billable. Might be cheapest to make a box to keep the size as low as you can. So you not only need to find a box to fit your antenna, but you want the smallest you can find that will do the trick....total crap shoot where to look. Try a hardware store for a boom/handle box...paint store for paint pole boxes....

·9 months agoBetter check the shipping rate first. That is way over size. The shipping will be murder.

·9 months agoHave you costed out the shipping? This is going to be subject to dimensional weight and you need to determine if anyone will buy when they consider the total delivered cost.
