Item can't be shipped to Israel
Potential buyer is blocked by eBay from purchasing using a shipping address in Israel.
I'd appreciate any insight as to why this is happening and how to resolve it.
I checked that EIS is enabled, Israel is not excluded in my settings, item does not fall under US export restrictions.

·5 months agosometimes you can work around some issue's like this by offering standard international shipping in your listing. Then you just ship it via usps/fedex/ups/dhl yourself. you do loose the eis protections, that's the caveat.
And sometimes "why" I do not know, after they make the purchase the standard international the eis option shows up anyway.
I personally try to avoid international sales, over the years there have a been a laundry list of problems.....it's better now but i don't recommend on a personal basis. It's easy to loose a chunk of money from errors beyond your control.
If the risk is greater than what you are willing to loose then I wouldn't do it.

·5 months agoThere are two issues with shipping to Israel. The first is lack of air freight due to the war. This is a temporary problem.
The second is the appalling Israeli post office. A high volume of items are lost by Doar Israel (compared to other countries) and the seller loses money. Some sellers prefer not to take the risk.

·5 months agoBonjour,
There was an announcement on eBay:
Temporarily pausing US international shipping services to the Middle East
Services are grounded due to regional conflict

OP8 months agoAppreciate everyones replies! I received an order from the buyer in Israel a few minutes ago.
Changes I made to the listing which may or may not have helped:
- offered free shipping
- dropped price to $999
Buyer mentioned an Israel customs threshold of $1000 (item+shipping) at which imports require more customs forms. eIS says they're taking care of all customs forms but who really knows 🙂

·8 months agoWhen I added the item to my cart on one of my test accounts earlier, along with a ship to address in Israel, the price was $999, so you must have edited it pretty early on which is why I couldn't find a block and believed it to be on the buyer's end. I often test these international questions pretty thoroughly before responding.

·8 months agoMy guess is it could be an issue with software the buyer is using. Should clear cache, use a different browser.
Or could be buyer account issue.
Or buyer honesty issue, could be trying to get you to ship directly which probably cheaper and faster.
Buyers don't typically like eIS, IMHO. More expensive and slower.
Doesn't seem to be a listing issue.

·8 months agoJust remember that if you ship a thousand-dollar item, you're supposed to require an online-viewable signature on delivery. International shipping doesn't offer online-viewable signature on delivery.
If you're using eBay International Shipping, then you're fine.

·8 months agoCould be what the item is or a combination of what it is with cost. Some countries cannot buy toys from the US; some Military etc. and this could be considered 'military' or 'technology not allowed' etc

OP8 months agoThanks for confirming. The buyer is still having problems.

·8 months agoSince eIS is clearly available on the listing and shows a ship cost to Israel, this points more towards something on the buyer's end. The issue is not with your listing or the item itself or eIS restrictions.
It can be near impossible to figure out what's going on in a case like that. Buyer's best chance is contacting customer service, but I'll be honest, they're not likely to get anywhere.
You can suggest the buyer try using the website instead of the app, but if the issue has something to do with their account or their address then that's not going to help.

·8 months ago@wastingtime101 curious; a country may be shown on EIS as a bulk, but certain items (used auto parts to many, toys to much of the EU etc.) are not allowed by EIS; so can't it be 'just the item'??
wastingtime101
·8 months agoNo @stainlessenginecovers . When that's the case, the country will not appear on the drop down; it's fully blocked.

·8 months ago@wastingtime101 but there could be 'transaction issues' (from the EIS Policies) Transaction limits may apply to some accounts. and with this person having a 31 by their name, I'll assume they are new and item is in the $1000 range and since EIS guarantees the sale to the seller, EIS will 'limit' some. This seems like it fits the criteria.
I believe it's NOT a country thing; it's a $$ thing.
wastingtime101
·8 months agoAgain, not the case. If the seller had a limit on their account, eIS would not appear on the listing at all. I've seen sellers with limits where eIS appears on some items and not others, or eIS appears on fixed price but not on auctions (where end price is unknown). This is not on the seller's end. It's not a $ or a country thing.
I'm not going to go over every detail here. It's clear this isn't on the seller's end or a general eIS block. It's tied to the buyer's account somehow.

·8 months agoThat listing does offer eIS shipping to Israel. Is the buyer still having problems?
