Issues when using Fed-Ex Ground Economy shipping
Summary: The discussion centers around issues with FedEx Ground Economy shipping. samj.ham reported two instances where packages were marked as undeliverable due to damage, despite being well-packaged. This raised concerns about the reliability of the delivery service. Another participant inquired whether a buyer had filed a complaint or INR (Item Not Received) case, questioning the status of a delivery.
Been using Fed-Ex "Ground Economy" for some of our shipping and recently had an issue with a package not moving from a Fed Ex location for 6 days. I called Fed-Ex and they stated there was a "problem" with the label and even though I could verify the address it was going to and my address on the item they could not help or give any further info to me because I was not "technically" the shipper and I would need eBay's Fed-Ex account number (they have to have an account number for security purposes). After explaining that I sell on eBay, purchase the label, ship it out, etc they still insist it's eBay and they need the account number. Never heard of this before. I called eBay and they said they have nothing to do with it and don't have a number to give me and suggested I wait the 21 days and file a claim. Not really the answer I was looking for from either company as I just want the buyer's item to get to them. The item was already scanned at 2 Fed Ex locations, so they have all the info even if the label got messed up. (and yes the buyer's address was verified and good)
Anybody experience issues with the Ground Economy service through Fed-Ex or how to follow up on a package without an account number?

·1 month agoI literally have the same issue with fedex, the product hasn't tracked since 08/02/2026 and they told me i needed to contact Ebay for a resolution. This is such BS!!! I just want my buyer to get the product he purchased. Ebay or whoever need to get this issue resolved, I blame mostly Fedex though, it should not matter how or where the label was printed. I have a tracking # and that should be enough!!!!!!!!

·1 month agoIn the past two weeks I have had two packages shipped FedEx Ground Economy get on the truck for delivery only to be halted due to the package being too damaged to deliver. Both package were 6x4x2 and well packaged. If the box was so damaged how did it get on a truck. Seems like their excuse for just not making the delivery and throwing it away.

Has the buyer complained or filed an INR case? Has the last estimated delivery date passed?

Not a newbie at this. Just new to this issue.

·4 months agothat's pretty typical for fedex-economy, it may sit at a hub for days before it gets transferred and delivered
I highly recommend not using fedex economy or ups economy either.
even if it saves a dollar or two it's not worth the headache
I hate when I buy something and the seller ships it fedex economy because I know it will sit at the hub 30 minutes from me for days... that's there m.o. and has been for years

·4 months agoI have received a number of Fedex packages like that. They stop for several days and then tracking says relabel and they start moving again. They often bill the shipper, you , for that too. Fuzzy bar codes can trigger that. Did you use a laser or thermal printer? Ink jet does not always work so well.

OP4 months agoI use a Brother Thermal Label Printer.
I'm more concerned that I'm not allowed to inquire about my own package because they state that eBay is the shipper. Apparently, this is only on the Ground Economy.

·4 months agoAny shipping purchased through eBay has issues with insurance as eBay is the shipper of record. Most cases the package does get delivered.
